Maybe on Philly but also KCP and Paul have struck me as just being about contract. In summer '17 it was clear he would have gone to anyone willing to do the 20x4/80 deal he wanted but couldn't get so we gave him the 18x1. And this last summer the market definitely wasn't there but KCP still wants that big payday and I think Paul sends him to a place he has a chance to get that. Bad team = bigger role for him. He's a backup 2 on a championship team let's face it. And he wants starter money. I'd rather have Hart in that role and comparing contracts that's a no-brainer.

I'm just wondering what RobMaj are thinking about here do they think this move puts us in contention this season? Because I don't see how we resign Trev next summer and a FA unless he takes the room exception and Javele is certainly earning that right now.

I know I’m in the minority, but I don't see the allure with getting Ariza. It’s not 2009, when he was a really good 3 and D glue guy for us. I’d rather save trading KCP for a small ball 5.

Not sure how the Lakers get this done since the Suns are really looking for a PG to relieve Booker from the ball handling duties. I would imagine for Philly to give up so soon on Fultz there would be a steep price to pay for the Lakers. Is Ariza really worth that?

... and zero offense (besides Bron) ;)
If Ariza is in the starting 5, Ingram is the one that has to come off the bench.
    Why would Ariza start though?

Kcp is a comparable player at this point, but I'd do it just to keep him from getting bought out and joining Houston.

I don't think KCP is comparable to Ariza by a long shot. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. KCP is not a clutch player. Ariza is.

I wouldn't check the stats from the Houston elimination game from last season.

I really think the upgrade is on man defense and vet leadership. There is nothing proving Ariza is a better 3pt shooter right now. KCP gets enough minutes and his avgs likely improve a little like last years. Also Rob may be trying to free up a few more (3) mil off the books come this summer.

    KCP - 3-pointers
    2017-2018 .383 5.6 att
    2018-2019 .340 4.0 att playing only 21 mins pg

    ARIZA - 3 pointers
    2017-2018 .368 6.9 att
    2018-2019 .348 5.5 att

You must have missed last years playoffs with Houston/GS. He might not have the same quickness that he did with us in 2009, but he’s still showed he was a valuable 3 and D glue guy for the Rockets, who almost took out GS if it wasn’t for CP3 going down.

With McGee and Chandler playing the way they have, they’ve made the need for a small ball 5 unnecessary imo.

I mean, technically, Mintz doesn’t really have a say in a trade, right? Unless Mintz takes this against Phoenix for trading a player to the Lakers, that would be unwise for him as an agent to alienate himself from two franchises.

We need a defender who can attempt to slow down the Derozans, KD’s, and Kawhi’s, cause right now, we don’t have it, no disrespect to Hart, he’s just too short for those guys.

lol* we will in the summer as 15mil is more than the 12mil alone KCP creates. Another player or 2 like Zu can go out

    Come back home Ariza!

He’s not a scoring threat like KCP but he a solid 3D player we need. His defense will be useful in the playoffs and I would trust Ariza more.

I haven't followed Houston last year, but looking at how they suck this year when they lost him and Luc as compared to last year, to me anyways, says a lot about what Trevor's value is to a team. But don't worry, I understand where you're coming from on this though...

That's not how cap space works...just cause ariza makes more doesn't mean more cap n zu is also expiring

For one he’s a better defender than Kuz although he has gotten better as of late, and also perfect fit as a catch and shoot option. I understand Kuz is a better fit offensively with Bron, but defensively BI is much better and personally I prefer a good defensive unit to start the game and set that tone. Plus BI is starting to figure things out with Bron. It probably won’t happen, but that’s what I’d go with.

I’m not sure this would be a big upgrade. Ariza is 33. I’m not sure how well he can run with this new fast Lakers style. I’m also not sure he’s the same player he use to be.

That said, if he is as good as his old self and hasn’t slowed down, i guess it’s not a bad trade.

honestly for me, ariza=KCP. sure, ariza brings more experience but this team already has plenty of that

i'd rather just stick with KCP

I'm not excited about giving up much more than KCP in this type of trade. I'm with @Barnstable on this one. Not sure I see anything to get too pumped about.
