I love the above Rogan video .... there is a deeper message there too.

It is impossible to have a legitimate proper working democracy without an informed public..... and when news stops being independent it becomes a road block to the democratic process itself.

The media has been dissolving since the Clinton years IMO ...... that is when the aggressive concentration of majority news sources into fewer and fewer private hands began.

At some point I think this has to be looked at...... what was the original concept for the news in the first place? to keep check and balances in place, keep the public as informed as possible and to question power...... now it just parrots power.

"Replace" sounds so much nicer than "oust."

I thought this was a fantastic and fair breakdown on what media should be, facilitated through the fight between Hannity and Koppel

I happened to click on a twitter news link that happened to be CNBC. It was covering United's catastrophic PR nightmare. Here's the link: http://www.cnbc.com/2017/04/11/pr-nightmare-catches-up-with-united-investors-as-shares-slide.html

In the article it brought up:
Seemingly out of the blue. It had no context whatsoever and I fail to see why it's important. Weird reporting.

^^^^ it does appear random. I've heard various accounts of this passenger. One said he was off the plane and ran back on. I don't know. I'll wait for more info.

I think most are outraged at United. I wonder if the response would be the same if passenger were Middle Eastern.

How do you mean? People would be more outraged or less?

I just don't understand United's stance. They overbooked, so you offer more and more money until enough people get off. You don't forcibly drag a person off the plane when they didn't do anything wrong. That's insanity.

I agree. United could've upped the $$$ and someone would get off

    Yeah possibly.

Did you happen to hear about the Muslim Marvel comic artist that snuck in some anti-Christian and anti-Semetic symbols into his work? The comic was released about a week ago. The symbols went mostly unnoticed by Americans, but upon international release it became an issue. Marvel is pulling the comic and they fired the artist. He wrote a response that was basically unapologetic about his beliefs and it's clear he thinks he did the right thing.

I found it an interesting story because it's not gotten much national coverage. Religion usually sells news cycles so well.

    I haven't heard about it.

Similarly, the school shooting yesterday -- if the shooter was Muslim or white it would've got more press. Or we're just becoming immune to this stuff.

    Could be...

To that point: the thing that bothered me most about the shooting in San Bernadino was that the man decided to do it at the school. My first thought was literally, "couldn't you just do that at home?" I realized how wrong that was too late.

"Media and intellectuals compare Trump to Hitler and no one bats an eye.

Sean Spicer compares Bashar al-Assad to Hitler and the media and intellectuals lose their minds."

I saw this and found it interesting. Spicer is a pawn / clown and he was wrong for saying Hitler never used chemical weapons, but the comparison and reactions to Trump/Hitler and Hitler/Assad is interesting.

Aaron Hernandez was just a bad person all the way around. I'm surprised he did this now vs shortly after arrest or conviction, but ehhh... no loss to society. The Conspiracy Theorist are in a frenzy saying he'd never do that. No one just commits suicide or dies any more. Always has to be an angle or big government conspiracy.

Fox news has a long history of sexual harassment, so I don't doubt it's true. But, that is not the reason they fired him. They cut ties because advertisers were boycotting him and that's a LOT of money. He's been #1 for 15 straight years. They'll plug someone like Tucker Carlson in his slot and be fine (Tucker took Meghan Kelly's slot and actually increased ratings, which is crazy).

The conspiracy theorist in me says that he did it on purpose for legal reasons. Maybe if he isn't convicted more of his finances are transferred to his kid? That's the first thing I thought of. I had a cousin, a personal hero of mine actually, who committed suicide because it would give a large policy to his kids and he felt it was the only way he could provide for them. Maybe something similar happens here with Hernandez no longer technically guilty of a criminal act? If not, then he just took the easy way out of the bed he made for himself.

I never really liked O'Reilly so I don't give a hoot about him. I agree he was fired for money, not for sexual harassment.
