I heard they were looking for two 1sts from Lopez, this wouldn't be enough.

I actually think Mozgov is easier to move. He's likable, hard working, and straight forward. There's teams that would be okay trading for him if they didn't have to give up anything and of course if his contract weren't so long. In two years we could definitely find a trade partner for him.

If they'd do it, I'd do it.

BTW, I don't think these contracts are the end of the world. If we can bring in PG, that would likely mean moving some salaries out. And we might add a ring chaser or two in the process. Then we'd need only a year or two to move these salaries.

Without reading any of the other posts, IMO we are stuck with these two until at least next summer. More likely summer 2019 when they will be far more tradeable as expiring contracts but I think they'd be somewhat movable next summer with two years left where their contracts would be more palatable. The players themselves won't be more attractive - especially since both would be 2 years older - but the contracts would be less of a negative as inclusions in trades. Plus the salary caps are rising significantly so by then the contacts wouldn't look as egregious.

yeah i don't blame nash at all for taking that contract. he just had some s**** luck suffering a pretty freak injury in only the second game which basically killed his career. let's not act like he was a bum, he most likely would have put up close to the same numbers he did the season before had he stayed healthy

but in all honesty, trading that much assets for a 38 year old PG with tons of mileage in his legs was a dumb move. understand why they did it but a very dumb move looking back on it and just another way the cp3 veto helped set this franchise back years

Deng is probably the only salvagable player between the two. If we have to pair him with the Hou 1st Rounder to get someone productive, that's the best case scenario.

Moz just doesn't cut it in for league standards now and I think we will be stretched.

I think the opposite in terms of which player/contract is better. I also don't think it's at all likely we stretch one of these guys. I don't think the Lakers want that much dead money on the books for that long. The only way I see them stretching these guys is if THIS summer they have a shot at signing Griffin or something and they need the cash immediately. Even then they may decide it's better to lose some far future pick than try to eat dead cash.

I think even in their desperation they can find a better offer than that. Something with less years and maybe a 2nd included.

Moz cuts it in the league and this season better than Deng has been cutting it. Not saying a whole lot but Deng has never gotten into any semblance of what he used to be able to do since he's been here. Where's that observation coming from?

If we keep our pick and stay at 3 would anyone be opposed to scenario below?

    Deng/#3
    For
    Mcroberts/mia 1st/mia 2nd

3rd is projected to be Josh Jackson, while athletic, hes not a good shooter, i wouldnt be surprised if he turns out like wes johnson. We'd still have a pick to add more talent with mia 1st rd and if we keep this yrs pick we lose our 2nd rd to Orl, so we add one back in this instance. This is course if Indy wont deal pg to us so this route we can sign a max fa and still have cap space for pg13 in 2018. Mcbob is expiring, if healthy he has become a decent all around player now

No way in hell you double down on trash. Cap is going up. You let them play out their contracts and let them walk. You don't turn trash into more trash. If someone is dumb enough for it, fine, but no one is in reality.

Maybe it would be cheaper to just pay someone to assassinate them both.

The only way we can move one of them is if we throw in a damn good asset to incentivize.

We can make the argument that those two contracts were the worst of the entire summer. This is why you never want to defend a free agent signing by saying "well we had to do SOMETHING".

A very late 1st round pick isn't worth 48 million which is what Deng will cost over 3 years after subtracting his actual value which I calculate to be about vet min. Late first rounders are basically early second rounders but with a guaranteed salary. Not that awesome.

I would rather have put these contacts at the back of my mind because it fills me with white hot rage against Mitch and Jim but kudos to you guys for enough patience to discuss it openly.
