Hmmmm. I honestly still don't get the signing. Absolutely, Beasley can score. But he definitely doesn't fit the "high character" mark that Magic and Rob have talked about at all, and I'm not sure how he fits what we are trying to do. He's not a high basketball IQ guy and his defense is pretty nonexistent. We have guys in the second unit who can go off in scoring (Kuz, Hart, Svi) all of whom I would rather give minutes to than a one year rental trying to stay in the league. Yes, Beas has a lot of offensive talent but . . . why didn't we sign a 5?

We're clearly going small. No way we rely on McGee for more than 15-18 minutes a game, so that means we must be going small in the second unit.

I dont hate the signing because Beasley is actually a decent scorer, but it definitely feels like an overlap.

For those keeping score... this is yet another vet that provides us with depth that might come in handy if we trade away some youngsters. Rondo behind Lonzo. Stephenson behind Hart. Now Beasley behind Kuzma. I'm not saying we will move any or all of them, but the door is open.

What you and Sirron are saying is the only thing making sense, that we are going small. Not sure I love it. I like having some muscle and I don't like us going to war without it. Right now we don't have any. That's where I'm missing Randle. McGee was a cool addition for some shot blocking and lobs at a 10th the price of DJ, but wow, we are so weak at the true PF and 5.

really feels like all the weird vet signings are about pushing the young guys. hopefully it doesn't backfire.

Lebron said he wanted to play with smart players so this makes perfect sense

    Rondo/KCP/Stevenson/James/Beasley or McGee
    Zo/Hart/BI/Kuz/Zu or Moe

We got a vet lineup and a kiddie lineup.

We got a finesse team and goon squad.

I wouldn't be mad if our kiddies gave us major run during the regular season so that our oldheads can ease them joints for the postseason (that is, if some of them make it past the trade deadline).

Beasley just gives us more of a luxury in responsibly monitoring Bron's minutes during the regular season. Bron can get spot minutes at the 5 spot as part of some gimmicky death lineup...but the object of the game is to get that man to the postseason at near 100%.

Btw, stop disrespecting LO...I like this signing, but in no way is he even in the same tier of player as LO was.

Pffffftt. The kiddie lineup is going to take them in a 7 game series. Who's guarding the wookie?
