It's Kawhi's job and Rob's job to figure it out if he wants to be here. We said the same thing last year with George and he blinked about it.

It's Rob's job to find a creative way to land him that satisfies everyone and it's Kawhi's job to make sure everyone, including the C Bags, knows this is a rental so he deflates the market in trade talks.

If you're going to be a wet blanket, get out. :D

We're allowed to be excited about possibilities! This is a team that's had very few things to celebrate for 5 years, just having this type of interest and intrigue again should be enough to get the blood flowing in Laker fans. Let us dream. :D

We need Kawhi and his camp to double down on "Lakers or nowhere". With PG we heard Lakers Lakers Lakers and then "you know, I'm okay with ... too" and then he was traded to OKC.

Spurs don't have to do us any favors but they can build rapport with future free agents. Its important for a small market team thats a couple years away from losing Pop too.

Well, I'm not trying to be negative; I'm a positive person. However, I don't like the Spurs; never did. Nevertheless, despite my feelings, I hope the Spurs would listen and be open to negotiate a deal with us; and chances are they will, but at the end of the day, would you want a superstar joining our franchise knowing that James might be following right behind them?

The odds are stacked against us...but let's see what happens.

The thought of that defense of Lonzo, PG, Kawhi on the perimeter....

And by the way, I still think we're getting James and another star; it just may not be Leonard; although, the fact that we're discussing it as a possibility is amazing...

Again, is that from Kawhi or his camp? LOL. And according to Woj, Pop and Leonard haven't even met, yet. Irrespective of them meeting, the owners (who are divorcing) are too cheap to pay Leonard the super-max. I don't see that happening...and I think he ends up getting traded.

Granted there are reports Pop is only coaching till 2020 from Woj, but this is a good point too.

Not sure they would want Zo in the trade package

Kawhi needs to SQUASH all possibilities of going anywhere BUT the Lakers right now.

I've seen this line of thinking elsewhere and the way I see it: why would the Spurs care that much?

Outside of our ancient history with that franchise, we just have to offer them a deal that's worth doing. Sure, it'd be tough seeing Kawhi in a Laker uniform, but if you get the pieces back that you can work with, why does it matter? Hart, Ingram, and Randle are all excellent fits for that franchise. If someone beats our offer, then maybe it is what it is, but that part would be on Kawhi to make sure the deal got done. His camp needs to drive down his value to other teams. George started to do it, but got cold feet at some point. If Kawhi and his camp actually double down and say "Lakers or bust, we won't sign an extension anywhere else", then the Spurs do lose leverage as long as we offer a decent, competitive trade.

Ingram/Randle/Hart for Kawhi in my opinion is a strong trade offer. What would the C Bags offer that's abundantly better than that if Kawhi is dedicated to getting here?

Clippers could spoil this for sure. Kawhi and his camp shouldn't have left the window open if he wanted to be a Laker.

I think being in the LA market is more important to them than being a Laker. A Laker is preferable for a million reasons, but I think being a Clipper would work for that camp too.

Fair enough. We'll see. I'm not disagreeing with you by the way; I want this to happen as much as anybody....and they loved Kuzma apparently, so we may have to include him.

Ok, so the Spurs, "haven't made him available yet"...I think he is as good as gone, IMO. So, I'll run with the premise that he's gone, what are the Clippers offering; 2 picks and what players?

    THIS.

It started out with "LA" is preferred destination and everyone assumed Lakers

Now, it's Lakers OR Clippers...he left the door open and now we're going to have to pay up for him...
