Just thought I’d jump in here and share some thoughts. Happy new year to all.

Subjects are compartmentalized here, and I’ll be a little scattershot, so apologies if that’s out of bounds.

    1. Josh Hart: I get a distinct Rick Fox vibe from this young man. It’s essentially meaningless to compare current Lakers to previous, but it’s kind of fun. Fox is bigger, but Hart has that same factotum kind of thing going, and has – maybe a stretch – a little mean streak in him.

    2. Brandon Ingram: Wearing those leggings – don’t know what those are called – really seemed to accentuate, tonight, for me, how incredibly skinny his legs are. As if I’d never really noticed. I think he should rock those chicken legs. Maybe these leggings protect against knees to the thigh.

    a. I have friends who are hovering in the ‘BI is a bust’ zone, but I don’t think so.

    b. He seems convinced he’ll get that mid-range jumper going, clearly wants it, and while there are growing pains I think it’s the right plan.

    c. Is there an athleticism deficiency with BI? Footwork deficiency? Trying too hard/pushing rather than taking what the defense gives him (enter the mid-range which isn’t falling)? Something is not quite clicking, for me – it’s a mystery to me if it’ll come together for him, and by come together I mean 25 point scoring average. It kind of seems he’s in purgatory. Trapped between worlds.

    3. Lonzo: I’m kind of souring on the pouty face. Miss a FT, don’t pout. Brick a layup, don’t pout. Airball a 3 foot jumper floater, don’t pout. I think he needs to grow up. Get hard. Tons of athletic ability, and a smart player, but also stuck in some kind of purgatory.

    a. These young players have a lot of pressure on them, and the expectations of Laker nation could, I imagine, be crushing. There hasn’t been a well-schooled veteran team for our kids to step into, and learn at their own pace. They’re having to find their own way, grow up together. I can only imagine how difficult it would be with the kind of scrutiny they’re under. That said, Jesus with the pouting.

    4. Kuzma: Sometimes I wonder what Kobe would say – about Ingram, about Lonzo, about Kuzma. Sometimes I think Kobe would say to ship all these fools out except for Hart and Kuzma. But then I squash that thought.

    Gotta run. Best to all.

He "put his balls on the table" in this game , especially in the 2nd half as we say in French

I have to agree with the Rick Fox and also Derek Fisher vibe to me. He's my favorite Laker because while he's not a star per se, he is the kind of guy you need if you want to win championships. He has that quality to him where he can lift his game when needed and get it done. He's already got a winning pedigree with Villanova and it shows. Toughness, tenacity - he has those qualities that Fox and Fish had.

Welp, just another guy we overrated and has come back down to earth.

We may need to start KCP after all....and Josh needs to just come off the bench for now until he gets his mojo back

He's missed way too many wide open 3s...and just shooting in general has been bad

Meh, I get the benching, but I'd rather stick with Josh Hart as the starting SG. It's not like KCP has really been something worth writing home about. Last night he sucked.

At least with Josh you have some real defense unlike KCP's garbage gambling style. Also I'd rather keep developing Josh and give him the bulk of the minutes. It's not like KCP is going to be around next year. If he is, we're in trouble.
