not sure how to respond to the post before, but I do wonder how Clarkson cracks a rotation with nash/kobe/lin/young/ellington/henry/price. he'd have to play quite well for a rook. best shot is beating out price for backup pg minutes when nash (inevitably) goes down. I question whether scott goes that way.

I stand by it: it will take several injuries for the team to throw Clarkson out there for regular minutes

It could have been a lot worse so I'm alright with him being out for 1-2 weeks.

I'm glad it's that short. Although, selfish me is sad because we won't be able to see him play more and how he fits well with the unit.

    Hit "Reply" at the right.

Nash won't make it a full season.
    Henry won't make it either.
    Young is out for months.
I don't know that Ellington is ahead of Clarkson on the depth chart.

Regular minutes is one thing. Rookie minutes is another. Sacre played only 200 minutes as a rookie, but there were surely times we needed him. That's all I'm saying about Clarkson.

I agree!! It's a breath of fresh air to see him go out there and try so hard and play well doing it! Can't wait to see what this kid's game can turn into!

lol, not a mechanics question...a "not sure if serious" issue...

I said Clarkson shouldn't miss preseason because this was a good chance at PT, and somebody castigates me for rushing to judgment. fact is that he's behind several guys, some of whom are out right now. he's missing some valuable court time that might not be had a month from now.

He's not behind all those guys - and some if them are hurt. He will play.

I'm hoping that's true. Clarkson definitely was an intriguing pick and he seems to have all of the tools needed to succeed in the NBA.

I love this guy. I think he's going to be a big part of our future. His athleticism and fluidity is very impressive and good enough to help him excel at this level if his skills can be improved upon. His shot looks good. He can get his shot off via runners and floaters. I like his willingness to play D. Right now, he seems to be the designated 3 pt shooter and isn't getting much involvement in offense but that will change. He can also play both guard positions so that will be a huge plus for him. He has the foot speed to guard smaller pgs.

I think Kupchek hit a winner here. He has all sorts of skills on offense, but his defense has looked great for a rookie. Except for some ill advised forced shots his basketball IQ looks high, and will get better. I see him being a key rotational player, getting time at both guard positions, mostly at the 2, with Kobe moving to the 3 at times when the match ups permit. Nice versatile player.

I seriously like this guy. He was a steal this late in the draft. He's a little trigger happy but i can live with that ;-).

He's now our backup point. He'll be thrown into the fire immediately.

I like Clarkson. He's got a nice natural feel to his game. Love the way he can get to the rack, like his step back jumper. He's a good player. He needs seasoning but he'll get that. Mitch made another good pick here.

Im praying he can steal this role at ANY point this season, like Randle IMO we would get a lot more GOOD than bad him being thrown into the fire&would learn, get experience a LOT faster while letting his natural talents take over as well..

ALSO, if he doesnt win backup PG, do you think he beats Henry if theyre both healthy or well end up going with the hot hand approach?

I might add as well, possible blessing in disguise with Price injury since we now know he can be our defensive specialist,to truly evaluate where Clarkson stands on the team&makes Scott think twice about possibly taking a conservative approach.

BTW-Has Scott actually mentioned what the plans ARE for Clarkson? We just need this guy to pan out&I have that feeling he will be the guy that makes us accept all those thrown away picks over the years at a time where we need to strike coin/get a lucky bounce.

I don't think Scott has any plans yet. But I do think Scott is the type of coach who will play him in the regular rotation if he feels he has EARNED it. And I think Clarkson will earn it. No one on our current roster can match his athleticism at the guard spot. Young and X might be more explosive leapers but none possess Clarkson's foot speed and fluidity. I also like his shot so he might be a designated shooter if he can be efficient from deep. Not to mention, his ability to play both guard positions.

I'm sure Ronnie will be back in time for the Rockets game. He's a tough dude.

Clarkson will probably get a lot of time at backup SG with Ellington's concussion now.
