He's the bandaid while we look for a more permanent solution (I hope).

    Seriously This!

Why does everybody think this squad is on a 4 yr deal like Bron? We'll be good this year and finally make the playoffs. But at best we're playing Cinderella/spoilers this year.

Next year, once we fill our 2nd max spot, that's the team that will have Final aspirations.

This whole team is a stop gap for the real core next summer.

This guys got some game. He was hustling all over the court. Had some nice put backs. Looks like we might have found our backup 5. He and Moe are going to have to fight it out for minutes.

I really really like Williams. I was bummed that we cut him at first, and so happy we brought him back. Games like this are why.

He needs more time ESPECIALLY in small ball units.

Damn what a nice and clutch performance from Williams. Definitely better there than Kuzma. A little bigger and stronger and plays a tough game down there for his size.

Impressive performance. Aldridge is a handful for anybody in the league but Williams held his own to some extent. But he provided the hustle that was needed at times. Knows his role and does it well.

This guy actually doesn't have too many basketball skills. Can't hit anything except dunks and doesn't have any other skill offensively. But he plays very active defense. I still think he is a little too weak and small to be dominant but he is an energizer which is refreshing to see (in contrast to Zubac).

He hustles and rebounds, tries to block every shot, has his hands up, rotates...something except for McGee no other "big" on this team does.

Such a nice game. Let’s see if he can do it again. Bdtter to have him at small ball C than Kuz. That much is obvious.

I'm going to miss the Wookie.

    :Chewie:

    Zubac not so much.

Life was good back then when he was drafted by Lakers but hot 5 yrs older GF took all his powers. What other explanation? Look at those eyes. :giggle: :(

He's earned himself some backup 5 minutes. That was spirited effort and hustle.

I'd like to try him as our backup 5 so that when our full team is back. Kuz when he comes off the bench isn't playing the 5 but can play in his more natural position which is the 3 4 or 3 at times. More than anyone last night I'm bummed that we didn't win the game because the difference maker in OT was Williams and his ability to defend the rim against Demar.

    He's a mini-McGee. I like it.

It gives us the opportunity to constantly have an athletic rim protector who runs the floor out there at all times. He's an astronomically better fit than Zubac, Kuzma, or Beasley at the 5.

I don’t know if I’d say that actually.

He might not be able to step out farther than 10-15 feet, but he’s shown nice soft touch to his layups and shot attempts that I’ve seen.

Low sample size further out though, so you may be right

Wasn't he taking threes in pre-season/summer league? The shot looked funky but seemed to have decent touch.

He's also got decent touch on his hooks in the paint.

Hey, I'm not complaining. If he can dunk and make put backs, then I'm happy. Dude is in the game for his defensive impact, not to be Kareem on offense.

So he’s on a two-way contract which I believe limits how games he can participate in if I’m not mistaken. Is there any way to convert to a full contract or something if they want to play him more regularly?
