Flashback to a date where Zu played in both the D League and on the "Varsity" later that evening .... and Vander Blue hitting the game winning shot at the buzzer in overtime to cap a big comeback. http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/170818-vander-blue-ivica-zubac-south-bay
Is that supposed to be funny or his workout or... what is this? I'm confused. Ivica is the one young prospect on our roster that really disappointed during summer league and hasn't been reported to be working out like at all. He better show up in great shape and some improved skills come training camp. For some reason I blame his GF for his lack of development and dedication if my concerns prove right.
....time to get mean Chewey and serious and in cardio shape or you're going to get your a** shipped to some small market cold weather town with a crappy training facility. No more hot 5 years older GF as she will be staying in LA.
I was disappointed in his relatively soft body in some standing in shallow pool shots mid summer (compared to what insane Julius was doing) ..... but was told ehh he's only 21 and can't look (less soft) just yet. Still not quite buying that. Zu was my boy. I thought once he got in a s.o.t.a. facility for working out with first class trainers that he never had in the homeland, that he would have looked better by now standing in that shallow water chilling and then summer league happened. Although I definitely thought he redeemed himself quite a bit just in appearances the last few games. Sure looked better than the first few. I still have hope. If they don't trade him. But have reached a point where if Randle's looking good I'd rather maybe give up Zu than Randle if that's what it took in a multi player package to get rid of Deng.
Think being in the 2nd year in the system will help a good amount and of course facing legit NBA flow cause Summer league for a big man like him mustve felt like he was playing glorified pick up ball lol. I think this a big year in his body development and understanding/executing the mental to physical part of the game. Learning from Lopez and Bogut while not forcing him in the game just cause we need another body, hopefully, will develop him further and nicely. With all the young guys, hoping everyone improves significantly by the all star break. Gonna have to earn it Zu.
I'm not worried about Zubac at all. Yes he had a couple bad games in SL. He looked slow and out of shape. That means very little to me though. I still think he's the best big man prospect from last year's draft class.
I'm glad he isn't under any pretenses for how he played in the SL and took it as a serious wake up call.
Yep .... a real wake up call and now has seriously high BTU flame under his butt. Knows he could be gone if he doesn't look a lot better than SL in a hurry. Good that he and the GF cancelled those extra trips.
