    Yes. The expectation that a rookie will save us is the problem. They need time to develop. Ingram has a ways to go and Ball will need time as well.

    Those are #1 picks, #2 has shown a piss poor track record of success...b
    N dlo didnt save us his 2nd yr either i wouldve have doubts he would in his 3rd yr, im willing to bet Ingram doesnt turn really good till his rookie contract is up if he ever does get there

    I think he's got a lot of personality we haven't seen yet. People say he's not a vocal leader or whatever, but I believe he is, it's just probably mainly in the locker room/practice, we don't see it. You can be a true leader without being loud. Odom was a main leader here and you wouldn't have known it just by interviews and on court demeanor.

    Also the sac rumor has also shown mgmt doesnt really see a big deal drafting ball or whoever at 2nd, they wouldve been as happy at 5th as they were at 2

    I also believe the track record shows the best way to obtain a star is in the draft. Stars don't often move teams, aren't often traded. Best bet is to trade one. Is it gamble? Of course, but you take that risk because you commit to a guy for only 4 years for cheap. If he doesn't pan out, you can move on. And I strongly disagree with you on Ingram, he already started to look damn good the last part of last season, way ahead of schedule from what I expected.

    That bothered me too with seemingly the willingness to go that far to get George now, if the reports were true. You shouldn't give up the chance to draft the kid that MOST does allow the team to play the way Luke and Magic want to play going forward.

    Last shot at the lottery with all the rumors I've been hearing:
    1. Fultz- Obvious Philly loves him. They feel like Fultz/Simmons/Embiid will take over the league.
    2. Ball- Obvious fit for LA. Has tremendous upside.
    3. Tatum (could be a trade here) - Hearing Boston likes him a lot. I'm not sure he's a terrific fit today, but could be great fit tomorrow.
    4. Jackson (could be a trade here)- Hearing the Suns want out of the Bledsoe game and would take Fox if they traded him. We'll see.
    5. Fox- He's their guy I think.
    6. Z. Collins- Surprise pick, but I'm seeing Orlando likes him a lot. He's got great talent.
    7. Markkanen- Personally I love Isaac as a fit here, but a two bigs who can shoot on the same team? Wolves could have an awesome open floor.
    8. Smith Jr.- Who knows what the Knicks do? Could try to trade up, but if not this is the highest upside guard left on the board.
    9. Ntilikina- I've heard the Mavs are all in on him. They even hired his international coach in some capacity or some such thing.
    10. Isaac- Highest upside pick on the board. Kings need a forward. I personally think he's a PF, but maybe they can turn him into a SF. Adds to their versatility.
    11. Monk- Awesome slide pick. Hornets get a bucket-getter to go with... Dwight.
    12. Kennard- Not the most Detroit kind of guy, but he's had terrific workouts. I think he fits and is great Caldwell-Pope insurance.
    13. Justin Jackson- I think the Nuggets could use Gallinari insurance. Jackson is a good kid would fit their culture. I wouldn't be surprised if they went big though.
    14. Mitchell- Heat want shooting? Here you go. I know Dion Waiters had a solid year, but Mitchell could be better. I've heard also they could go TJ Leaf.

    If mgmt was willingly, i dont see what the problem is, only the ball fan boys wouldve been crying had that deal gone through, which was a good deal in our favor

    Complete assumption.

    They could have been trading down with the hope of still drafting their guy. Kings want Fox. If they thought we were going to draft him, they would have to trade up to us to get him. We could trade down to 5 and count on C Bags/Suns having their guys picked out already. C Bags weren't taking Ball and Suns are stuffed with guards. Might as well trade down three spots, pick up another asset, and still get Ball.

    how do you know they were willingly?

    just because it gets pumped out by the media that we tried to get the 5 and 10 doesn't mean that was preferred over keeping the 2.

    how do you know the lakers weren't just trying to force another team to make a move (which might have happened with boston/philly) by leaking that lonzo's workout didn't work well and wanted to take jackson/fox/fultz.

    i agree with just taking ball at #2 but it would be wrong to ignore how big the gap has been between the #1 and #2 picks in recent history in regards to their performance

    Look how big the drop has been from #1 to #2 in every year except 2007 and 2013 (can't include '16 because Simmons hasn't played yet). Most recent #2 picks haven't lived up to their hype. I'm not saying Ingram is going to fall into that category but it wouldn't be right to simply assume he's going to break out this coming year. He's going to need time to develop

    The question is whether or not this draft will keep up with the recent trend. There doesn't seem to be one name that really sticks out from this class like there has been in past years so it'll be really interesting to see how these guys develop.
