The good: he's a big, physical 270 lb center.

The bad: we now have 4 third string centers.

Head scratching move. Our three 2-ways are 3 big men. We have Traore too

One of the other two must be a trade salary filler.

It really doesn't make any sense unless there is another trade coming in which we obtain a ball handling guard. I still don't get why they chose to let go of Olivari, he was my favorite prospect on the team :(.

Hopefully Trey is able to contribute, he's saying the right things. I am not optimistic on that one though.

4 third string centers do not make a 1st or 2nd string center.

i like that we FINALLY added someone with this physical profile (after two years of waiting), but i was hoping that a) it would be a more established player and b) it would not come at the expense of what i thought was our most promising development project.

only thing i can hope is that maybe we have a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trade in the works that will open up a spot to bring back olivari? seems doubtful.

Yeah. While I would probably not be too critical of this otherwise, losing Olivari makes me not really like this if I'm being honest.

Hopefully he does add the physicality that we need but I'm hoping this isn't our only move to address size.

As I said in another thread -- the FO had the right idea here. The guy is big, very strong, he has a good motor and plays hard. But, with all due respect for his dedication and passion for the game, his talent isn't quite at the level we need. He is an NBA player for sure, but we already have a couple of 3rd string centers who do their best in limited minutes. What we really need is a player who can be productive with AD on the floor and in those minutes when AD is resting. Someone who IS big, but can also fill the stat sheet. I am afraid Trey isn't quite that.

Now, this certainly won't make us any worse and is - at least as an idea - a move in the right direction. So there is that.

I wonder …. if we chose Traore to hang onto over Quincy ( sorry semi big guy) …. because Rui is lined up to go in a bigger deal?

Dwight would made more sense, gave us more than Woods, Hayes and this dude combined. To top it off, we cut Olivari for another scrub big, awesome.

not jemison, but the way jj was talking there as if this is a real idea about how we'll play games.

sorry, if you're serious about two-big lineups, you don't go dumpster diving in the middle of a season wherein your hopes are slipping away.

also, jj CLEARLY wants to play small. he couldn't help but throw it in there in the middle.

i actually think rob is caught between jj and AD on this one.
