considering they've struck out on every coaching hire since phil with the exception of vogel, i don't have much confidence in this FO to hire a decent coach this time around either. the fact that they're even considering hiring another rookie HC after the disaster that was ham says it all

Maybe it wasn't the coaching, and the teams just sucked.

As if you or anyone here has a “realistically obtained” better lineup without LeBron for the next couple years with health hoped for, THAN "addressing needs", installing a better coach than Ham (the limbo low bar that is) and LeBron on the team with reasonable health hoped for…. that would give us a better "puncher’s chance".

ok, i'll be the a****** again: "league sources" tells me this ISN'T the lakers saying this. it's folks (like me and LT--but who are employed by other teams in the nba) who think the lakers think this.

i know there is a rumor because i started the rumor.

Ehhh. Maybe if it was just one of the Twitter guys but Buha and Shams are definitely well sourced. It’s not hard at all to believe they are just protecting their guy (or gal) in the organization.

Naturally, I can’t rule out it being someone else especially if we want to look at things in a light most favorable to the org, but pinning the quote on “league sources” helps the org a lot if they want to deny their part in all of this later on and blame it all on Klutch.

You're right, ultimately we don't know what the front office is thinking. I still don't have confidence in them though.

could have said "sources close to the team", etc. they do this all the time. but here it was "league sources". these guys are cagey.

i'm confused here. so you're saying this is a double-secret-agent thing where rob is telling folks jj redick is pat riley, but don't say i said it, say it was "people"?

i think the more parsimonious explanation is probably accurate: people who work for other teams see the riley comparison and say the lakers are probably thinking that. totally fair speculation, btw. but it's external speculation. this is isn't magic johnson tweeting that lonzo ball is jason kidd or whatever.

I honestly don’t know who in the front office likes JJ but someone definitely does. Whether it’s Rob, Jeannie, Harris, Rambis or whoever else I don’t know.

Has LeBron given his input? Yes.

is it a hire Reddick or I don’t resign with the team ultimatum? No.

after the Westbrick trade, Eagle flying away for free, Ham make a wish hire, and the JHS debacle, my trust towards the FO is at an all time low:Laugh:

all I’m arguing is that I don’t think there’s evidence the FO put this out there.

I’de take that coach on the Pacer’s staff who was always the first one on the court when a fake fight started to brew.
    She seems tough.

So let me get this straight ! LeBron is actually saying if We hire JJ he had nothing to do with it ? What exactly was on JJs resume that attracted Jeanie to make him the HC ? Lebrons scapegoat ! Cm on podcast boys we all know the love you 2 have for each other .

LeBron will never be Kobe ! At least Kobe had the guts to pressure the FO to make a move and Kobe took full responsibility for it !

So far, of the list….I’m rooting for NOT JJ and NOT Cassell.

if we get Cassell, we’ll have to start making xenomorph memes again about him, and I’m not feeling the desire to do so.

Cassell goes for Doc to Milwaukee. It was reported a few days ago
Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers "plans to make an aggressive push" to hire Sam Cassell in an assistant coaching role, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Cassell, who's in his first season on the Boston C Bags' staff, worked under Rivers with the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers.
