I really don't want to make this thread about 1 team, but seriously f*** the splash brothers... With the additions of Rondo and Stevenson to our perimeter defense of Zo, Hart, KCP and the Kraken arms of BI, our perimeter D should be lit. Add in our Sasha doppleganger with the 47th pick and LA should be right at, if not better, than the 3rd place defensive ranking we got in holding opposing 3s to 34.6%. Only Boston (33.9%) and Philly (34.2%) did better. Also Stevenson helped the Pacers earn 5th overall and Rondo helped the Pelicans earn 8th overall in those 3FG% defensive rankings. And guess where the Pacers and Pels stood during the postseason? (2nd and 3rd, respectively) If you remove Deng from the equation, we were the youngest team in the league last year and our young roster earned 10th overall in opposing FG% / EFG% / TS% allowed. Our active bodies and hands earned us 13th overall in both total steals and steals per game. Indy ranked 3rd in total steals and 2nd in steals per game while the Pels ranked 8th in total steals and steals per game. Now some of those wings may be heading out in a rumored trade, but think about the type of wing defender that we would be bringing back in Kawhi. So as much as I would miss some of the assets we lose in such a deal, you absolutely have to pull on a deal like that... Kawhy not? That's one helluva #SmashBro to add to our collection. Now lets consider the McGee signing. Our frontline #SmashBros would have ideally been partnering McGee with Jules, but Mrs. Mintz had other plans. Still, lets consider how much McGee helped in the dubs defense last year. GS led the league in total block shots and blocks per game...want to venture a guess as to who led the dubs in block percentage last year? Our frontline is still lacking in that both Bron and Kuz are offensive guys more than defensive guys, but Moe has a motor and there is a possibility our roster isn't set yet (trade and/or buyout market). So lets get back to them other dudes by the bay....GS was 3rd (65) in total techs received last year, behind only Phoenix (66) and OKC (67). In the postseason, GS was second in total techs received with 14, only trailing the cbags that had 15. Klay is their only killer, but you don't think Rondo/Hart/KCP is going to give Curry fits and he'll lose a mouthpiece or 2?...you don't think Lance/BI (or Kawhi) is going to give Dae-Dae and KD fits? What about Moe/McGee and trying to pester a reaction from Boogie? So you think the #SmashBrothers coming together wasn't by design? Lets try to make this thread about our guys causing the opposition fits throughout this upcoming season....its gonna be a smash!
Moe, Lance, and Rondo are going to irritate the **** out of opponents this year. No doubt. We're going to be wildly unlikable around the league. I love it.
I like the name. It would be awesome if they truly prove a problem for Klay/Steph. But those guys need a fraction of a second to get a shot off so it's going to take some well coordinated switching, team D and reading their screens well enough to at least keep them pressured and make it hard to receive passes. Our guys have the ability but they need to have the playing time together.
The crazy thing is, we have a bunch of guys that know the Warriors well. Luke coached them, Lebron had battled them the past couple years in the Finals, Rondo just played them in the second round last year, McGee won two rings with them. Thats going to come in handy when we need to scheme for them.
Something with the Nintendo title of super smash Bros, beating on the warriors splash Bros. Lol idk man you're the creative one, I'm just the idea guy
After reading your post, I was curious and looked up LeBrons numbers against the Warriors in all 22 Finals games from 2015 till this past one. WOW! 44. 8. 6 39. 16 11 40. 12. 8 40. 13. 11 32. 8. 9 32 11 6 41. 16. 7 41. 8. 11 27. 11. 11 28. 15. 8 29 11 11 39. 11 9 31. 10 11 41. 13. 8 51. 8 8 29. 9. 13 33. 10. 11 Now the not so good games,lol. 23. 7. 8 20. 12. 8 23. 12. 9 19. 8. 9 25. 13. 9 Man that's crazy. At least we know if we face them in the playoffs LeBron won't have any problems. If he can play like he has and others step up unlike his past teammates, who knows???? We still need another Allstar though,imo,but if we can play them similar to the 2016 Cavs and Memphis did in 2015 we might make it a series.
I didn't know where else to put this, but our depth is going to be a massive issue for teams. Here's our depth: Rajon Rondo/Alex Caruso Josh Hart/Malik Newman Lance Stephenson/Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk Kyle Kuzma/Luol Deng Ivica Zubac/Moritz Wagner Golden State: Shaun Livingston/Quinn Cook Jacob Evans Andre Iguodala Kevon Looney/Jonas Jerebko Jordan Bell/Damian Jones Houston: Melton?/??? Eric Gordon/??? Aaron Jackson/James Ennis Chinanu Onuaku/??? Zhou Qi/??? (assuming they bring back Capela) Portland: Seth Curry/Wade Baldwin IV Nik Stauskas/Anfernee Simons Maurice Harkless/Jake Layman Caleb Swanigan Meyers Leonard/Georgios Papagiannis Oklahoma: Ray Felton Alex Abrines Terrence Ferguson/Kyle Singler Patrick Patterson Nerlens Noel/Dakari Johnson New Orleans: Elfrid Payton/Frank Jackson DeAndre Liggins Darius Miller Nikola Mirotic/Cheick Diallo Emeka Okafor/Alexis Ajinca Minnesota: Tyus Jones/Derrick Rose Josh Okogie Keita Bates-Diop Anthony Tolliver Gorgui Dieng/Justin Patton Utah: Dante Exum/Raul Neto/David Stockton Alec Burks/Grayson Allen Royce O'Neal Jae Crowder Ekpe Udoh/Tony Bradley San Antonio: Patty Mills Manu Ginobili/Lonnie Walker/Bryn Forbes Brandon Paul Rudy Gay/Davis Bertrans ???/??? Denver: ???/??? Malik Beasley Torrey Craig/Juan Hernangomez/Michael Porter Jr. Trey Lyles/Darrell Arthur/Tyler Lydon/Jarred Vanderbilt Mason Plumlee/Kenneth Faried The only one that really poses a consistent threat to ours is maybe Golden State? But they're leaning on a few young, unproven guys. The rest have a long way to go. If our starters play most of these guys to a standstill (I think we're better than most starters), the bench should be able to come in and rip s*** up. This is going to be a better team than people are expecting.
^^We had our benchmob during our title years...hopefully this is more than just a 1 year stint and we get our SmashMob moving forward... Love the gif idea btw.... #Smash In the playoffs, Lance allowed just 28% shooting from 16-24ft, which placed him in the upper echelon of perimeter defenders. Hey Steph, why don't you come shimmy on this d....
I love our bench. The benefit of drafting so well. It's like Bench Mob 2.0 except I think we'll be playing one style of basketball instead of two between the starters and bench.
Lance wouldn't be the only one. Dae-dae was 2nd in the league in drawing technicals, with his bunk buddy, KD being 3rd. During the postseason, they received 5 (led the postseason) and 2, respectively. There are some dogs on this team now, that will join Hart and KCP. The thing is, these dogs actually bite...Should be fun! Bron knows...which is why these dudes made his list. They got no reservations doing this vs Bron...you think they scared of Dae-Dae, Curry and f***ing Kevin. #SmashMob
I want them all up in their business. While BI, Kuz and Lebron are dropping 3's and dunks all over them.
I can’t wait to see a lineup including Rondo, Lance, and LeBron. They’re going to seriously irritate some teams this season and they aren’t going to back down. Forget that Dwight and Nash magazine cover, THIS is going to be fun.
