What if IT returns to form as turbo Mighty Mouse in this offense, and LLLLL gets injured. Although an unlikely scenario, the possibility exists of a PG/IT offseason, with Kawai in the wings the following year Now that would be interesting!
i would not pay it big $ even if he gets his bos lvl #s, he gives up as much if not more defensively.....i have no doubt chi wouldve upset bos last yr had rondo not gotten hurt
Lebron gets hurt and Cleveland drops out of the playoffs. We get hot and sneak in. We are now a playoff team with a lottery pick in a year we weren't supposed to have one.
n you laughed at me for suggesting deng for james lol.....clev missing the playoff is as likely as deng for james
Not really. Deng for James is literally impossible. Cleveland missing the playoffs can happen if LBJ goes down with a season ending injury. They are only 4 games up on the 9th seed right now.
Rob lurks and likes the Push For The Playoffs thread. Knowing that now I better stop bagging on his too tight and funny looking sport coats.
good to hear that rob wants to use the pick, just stretch deng n do manage the cap so we can keep randle, that pick is lotto gold with our scout staff
If that "pick" can be Julius Randle, there is no reason not to pull the trigger on a trade for Deng attached to the pick. Using a pick is nice. But it would be much better to get rid of Deng's contract in order to resign Randle. Thats a much better solution for us.
High first round picks certainly have good value right now but they in no way shape or form are worth 36.8 million over 2 years. What's your plan to entice someone to take on Deng? Because it sure isn't just the pick.
Another pick or two attached as well. Say the 2020 1st pick, and 2018 2nd round pick as well as the Cavs pick.
I think it all depends on the team receiving the pick's current cap situation. A small market team that doesn't have much prayer of landing the superstar free agent and needs to build through the draft in order to have a controlled asset could take on Deng's contract if they have space and no one is willing to sign with them. Also, if a team is well out of contention they could take on Deng. Team's have to get to 90% of the cap number or they pay into a general fund type thing. Take the Sacramento Kings for example. They will be over 20 million under the cap next season if everyone with a player option opts in. They are nowhere NEAR contending and could use the picks to try and hit the jackpot. Maybe we trade Deng and a first to Sacramento for Shumpert (who will likely opt-in to the final year of his 11 million dollar deal). Then we stretch that 11 million over 5 years and it's a tiny hit of 2.2 million for the next five years. That would give us the room to sign Randle, PG and LBJ. Sacramento gets a first rounder in exchange for taking on a bad contract for an extra year, a year that they weren't going to be close to the playoffs in anyway. What would they use that 20 million for? Sign another George Hill type player?
fair but its not enough, better to offer 2019 1st n 2021 1st after draft is done, at least theres still uncertainty if we're good or not by then, everyone knows this is clev pick will be in the mid-high 20s already
super like ^^^ this is what i've been talking about for a while. you don't have to fully dump deng. a partial dump accomplishes most goals. ideally, you look for a felicios type (whose salary is basically the same as a stretch waive cap hit for deng), but this one works, too. also, the mere threat of these kinds of deals could make it to where *gasp* deng could be used as part of a s&t for a desired FA (with the threat that you can clear cap another way and they get nada for their exiting player). again, it's how houston got paul.
That would be helpful and ironic if we ended up trading Deng, Zubac, and the Cav's own first rounder back to them for LeBron.
KCP, Lopez, Randle, That's just from our team, there are players all over the league that CAN contribute unlike Deng and their agents are well aware of who needs to fill these cap holes. Players that can change their outlook rather than a "Deng" and some high picks. Not everyone has the luck or skill that our scouting dept has.
But do they want to sign in Sacramento? Sacramento will have to overpay to get those type of players like they did with George Hill. Or they can take Deng and get a couple picks that are unknown. Fanbases like hope and the unknown. It's a lot easier to sell and really serves as their only avenue to become relevant (scoring big on a pick). Signing players like George Hill and Zach Randolph isn't going to get you anywhere and does little to get people to come out to the games.
