Memphis Grizzlies (12-2) at Los Angeles Lakers (3-11) 7:30 PM Pacific The Grizzlies have already won the first head-to-head game this season, a 107-102 victory on November 11th despite 28 points, 7 boards, and 6 assists from Kobe Bryant and despite all starters scoring at least 12 for the Lakers. The Grizzlies received 38 points from their bench vs. 12 Lakers bench points. The Lakers need a more impressive effort from their bench. The Grizzlies took three of four games from the Lakers last season, but the Lakers have been surprisingly competitive. Four of the past five meetings between these teams have been settled by five points or fewer. This includes the Lakers' sole win in that span. Mike Conley has starred for the well-balanced Grizzlies' attack, hitting at least 18 points in three of his last four games against LA. Nick Young has scored 50 points in his last three games against Memphis, accounting for 55% of the Lakers' bench scoring in those games. Nick Young's piloting of that second unit is key if the Lakers are to win. Projection Grizzlies 108 Lakers 98 Image: Karen Pulfer Focht / Associated Press
Wow, you guys are optimistic! Losing by 10 or less? Alright, sign me in! We'll lose for sure, but if we can make it look competitive, it will at least be watchable. I feel like I've been torturing myself this year watching my favorite team getting destroyed on a regular basis.
I don't see this Trodgers...I'm looking back at the final scores, and I see the following from the most recent 101-94 Denver over LAL 140-106 Dallas over Lakers 98-92 Lakers over Houston 114-109 Lakers over ATL 136-115 Golden State Over Lakers 93-80 SA over Lakers In our last 6 games, 3 of them have been double digit wins for the opposing team...although, I think the Memphis game will be closer heading into the 3rd and then they'll pull away in the 4th.
Free agency is the understandable and logical solution for the Lakers, especially considering how much talent will be available come 2016, but the uncertainty of how that sudden change will occur does nothing for the present day. The whole misguided “tanking” mindset, diminishing the competitive spirit, is rooted in fans' desire to feel like the games are building toward something bigger and better. So while it makes sense for the Lakers to fill out their injury-depleted roster with probably the best current player available, ex-Lakers forward Earl Clark from the NBA Development League, Clark is 26 and not quite a beacon of hope for the future. And the Lakers' efforts to present a player who could be part of a bright future have not worked out so far this season. The Lakers worked out several younger players—including 22-year-old Quincy Miller, who has been compared to Kevin Durant and Paul George—earlier this month with an eye toward using this time for development. No one blew the Lakers away. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...resent-as-youth-movement-lacks-youth-movement From Kevin Ding
Yes, but he means last six against Memphis. Still, they are so much better then us at this point, that... I don't know. As I said, I am just hoping to watch a fun game. With maybe some semblance of defense, and less Kobe Iso. One can only hope.
1 of the few really good teams we have a chance to beat.. They average under 100 PPG as a team so they aren't likely to put up too many points for us to be able to stay in the game like some of the teams with a ton of firepower we lost to (Dallas, GS, Clips)
I hope we can get a W tonight. I will say that, aside form our beloved Lakers, Memphis has gotten a lot of love from forum Laker fans. I'm on board with that. I would love to see them get over the hump and get a chip. Blue collar, workmanlike team. I like the character of their squad.
