it's been a LONG offseason. Again.

But if I'm being perfectly honest, I'd describe my position as cautiously optimistic. I'm at the stage of I will probably start watching if they are winning.

With a handful of players I don't care much for on the team, I need a reason to log on and watch.

I miss sharing my team with fellow fans for sure. But this team is unfamiliar right now. I'm sure that will change, but as of today, I've only experienced underwhelming excitement in anticipation of the season.

FYI: Bron is holding a team powwow in Vegas a week before media day.

Lakers have their first preseason game 2 days after training camp ends.

Training camp is only 7 days long now, then pre-season 2 days later? How long has it been that short?

Sense I'm getting going into training camp is that coaching staff seems to be high on a Rondo/Green/James/Davis/McGee lineup. Biggest question mark primarily is around whether or not Rondo will start. Kidd is pushing for it, citing Rondo's "court vision", "experience playing with Davis", and "team chemistry" as contributing factors. Rest of the staff is eagerly waiting for camp to see if these theories translate to results on the court.

Attempts by the coaching staff to reach Dwight Howard prior to the start of training camp have, for the most part, been unsuccessful. There is some growing concern that Howard will not "be on the same page" as the rest of team because of this.

I expect Caruso to outplay Rondo in preseason and I hope the rest of the coaching staff has more sway than Kidd.

Not surprised about Dwight being a concern even before training camp.

my takeaway: vogel a) also thought last year's roster construction was a joke, and b) was wise not to take the reporter's bait and piss off rondo before he could rightfully lose his starting spot.

Definitely valid concerns brought up by everyone here. However I am still optimistic that a strong training camp can set things in motion for the upcoming season. Hopefully the coaching staff has a chance to test different lineups and figure out the best ones! Whether they include Rondo & Howard or not...

We're ready to roll here Mr. Rambis. Look forward to your own takes on what your eyeballs tell you about our team as the season gets rolling.

What about all those pictures of Dwight at the training facility? You know, the glistening, shirtless photos being posted without a hint of narcissism.
