Los Angeles Lakers don't renew contract of head trainer following injury-riddled season, sources say Not sure how I feel about this.It seems like the team needed a scapegoat and since her contract was up it was convenient to not renew it.
Entirely possible, but realistically we have no real info here. It would be pure speculation at this point. In any case, I hope they find someone good.
first thing i wondered about was whether we really mishandled AD's injuries. we probably won't get details out of respect to the former employee and AD's privacy.
It says she was promoted to head trainer two years ago but has been with the team since 2016 as an assistant trainer. Very likely she still stays with the team but I would have to agree. With the amount of injuries just piling up and how Bron came back too early and then AD still getting injured... you have to wonder what went wrong.
They also dumped the Strength and Conditioning coach. The quick turnaround was the main culprit, but it seems like Rob is proactively looking for a physical upgrade as far as what the team provides for the players. Can't hurt, and hopefully will help.
Not soon enough. Just searched and found an article when he was hired in 2019 after being with NO, but no details of any kind.
The Lakers should seriously consider hiring Alex Meckenie as the head athletic trainer. He was with the Lakers from 2000-2011 and involved in keeping Shaq and Kobe healthy. He is also currently on Toronto’s training staff and was involved with keeping Kawhi healthy during their championship run too. It seems like the perfect fit considering we now have old Lebron and AD is injury prone.
