Sensible thing to do but how are they gonna make this season up? Say in a few months, the season recommences, will we just go straight into the playoffs?

So, , , if the season doesn't resume, which it probably won't, , do they anoint the top record as NBA champ? That being the Bucks.
Or will they organize a series between the 2 conference leaders to duke it out in an empty arena? Or to expand on the latter, do they take the seeds as they are and conduct the tournament in front of no one but TV viewers?

This whole thing is Bat**** crazy!!

I'd think it's not much different than the strike shortened seasons if they went to the playoffs

Good for us as we'd have to play Memphis.

Obviously health is the first consideration but LBJ gets rest and they go into the first round with a good match up

No matter how this shakes out regarding the rest of the regular season there will be a lot of complaints. If they end the regular season as-is and start the playoffs in a couple months, the teams just outside the playoffs will say it wasn’t fair because they didn’t have a chance to catch up. The awards won’t be the same either, no true MVP race down to the wire, etc.. If the season picks up again and somehow finishes in some regular fashion it will carry an asterisk of some kind, it’s wild, I never expected to see anything like this. And this is just talking basketball, the loss of life and how bad this could get in all other areas, economy, jobs, travel, whole other mess entirely.

Suspend it and play the play-offs. We have enough games to determine seedings

I mean any scenario is going to have it’s problems, but going straight into the playoffs in a few months is going to be tough with all the rust.

Personally I think they should just take the top record in the West and top record in the East, and then award the championship to whoever won the last head-to-head matchup between the two. I’m not sure off the top of my head what that would result in, but it’s the fairest resolution I can think of.

Forget the rest of the regular season
4 team play in tournament in each conference for 7-8 seeds (7-10 teams)
Start playoffs at regularly scheduled time

Above all just get through it healthy. And that goes for everyone not just NBA players.

The Toronto Raptors are one of five teams told by the league to self-quarantine after playing the Utah Jazz in the last 10 days, according to a report from ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Other teams told to self-quarantine are the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Boston C Bags, and Detroit Pistons.

The French big has shared the floor with 34 different players since Friday which has understandably escalated hysteria around the league. Gobert and the rest of the Jazz have been quarantined at Chesapeake Energy

The Jazz were in New York last week using a locker room/facilities at MSG that hockey teams use. The Rangers hosted the Capitals and Devils since then.

We knew this was kind of coming but still, I'm pretty bummed out that it's come to this. This season was genuinely fun and entertaining from the Laker perspective and it sucks to have it come to a screeching halt. Hope everyone stays safe.

there's been shortened seasons before (1999 and 2011-12.) so this wouldn't be the first time

i wish they'd just take the bucks and lakers and let them duke it out for the title in a best of 7 series. but i'm assuming they're planning on just canceling the rest of the regular season and going ahead with the playoffs next month (most likely behind closed doors)

NBA will most likely be back in 4-6 weeks with the playoffs imo

We had a nice momentum. Let's hope that the veterans will keep our squad focused and ready.

That Nets loss sucks a bit more now. It's always best to win your last game even if this time if wouldn't mean a 'chip'...

I think it's probably most fair to start the playoffs as soon as possible. Shortened season+Playoffs is not ideal, but it would still be entertaining without putting too much stress on the players. We'll see.

Or just, you know, let us and the Bucks go at it. Or if the situation gets serious, award those two teams Conference Championship Banners and call it quits.... that would be very anti-climactic after a great season so far though.

On a selfish note this sucks because I really look forward to watching this team play. But on a humanitarian note it makes perfect sense to me. Until we learn more about this virus, every precaution should be taken.

This is crazy. Health and wellbeing is what matters for everyone at the end of the day. But it does f***ing suck that our best season in what's felt like an eternity is being interrupted and there would be complaining with whoever wins the ship.

Cuban speculates on what may happen
