The GMs have spoken. Here are the results that pertain to us. For the full results, here's the link: https://www.nba.com/news/2021-22-gmsurvey So they have us making the finals, but doubt our chances against the Nets. I wish they would run this poll again and factor in the Kyrie sideshow. If he only plays half the games and can't practice with the team, they have a zero percent chance of winning. Bron was the MVP last year before he got hurt? But zero love this year? They can't use the too much help narrative because they have KD at 1 and Beard at 4B. He better hope the refs are bluffing with the new rules, otherwise he'll drop like a stone and have as many MVP votes as Hillbilly Kobe. Impressive that at 37, Bron is still getting love here. Bron getting top 2 love at two of the three positions he plays. Shouldn't that alone equate to him in the MVP conversation? Giannis over AD at C? Hmmm. With as much praise as the Nets get for their moves, I'm pleasantly surprised they're 10% points lower than us Houston? How? They should give us their percentage points. Also, we know Portland voted for themselves. Arguably the worst off season in the league when you consider what's at stake with Dame. Drummond?... seriously? Only reason Kings are on there is because once you've reached rock bottom, you can only go up. Good job Rob/Bron, keeping them on their toes. Gobert? [Chanting] Over-rated! Why is Kawhi on this list when he's not playing a large part of the season? Again, Kawhi should be ineligible. Also, Beverley? Get the f*** out of here! AD is being counted out or they don't trust his durability. He's my pick for DPOY this year. Did they not watch when AD embarrassed Gobert last year? Bron still getting a little love defensively. Lue? Give me a break. Doc? Great motivator. Motivates them right off the team. During the playoffs Snyder was getting criticism for not making adjustments. The only thing Doc adjusts is his... how to put this... when he shifts after sitting down. Vogel is 2B, at the very least. We were a top defensive team without AD while playing Drumm and McLemore rotation minutes. MDA cannot be on this list. Nor can anyone on the Kings. They're too s***ty. Give Handy some respect. 'Do rightfully is #2. No way Bron considers coaching. Owning, definitely. But coaching is too much of a grind with too much blame. Haters. Someone would rather watch the Hawks or Denver without Murray than watch the largest collection of HOFers ever? Even if you hate the Lakers, we're going to be entertaining. Bron still representing. No one else anywhere near his age bracket on this list. Who's watched enough Ish Smith tape to even make that claim. Nice to see Russ on here though. Don't think this should be as much of a runaway for CP3.
this was my prime takeaway. sorry, he's a better defender than gobert, who gets run off the floor every single year in the playoffs. EVERY YEAR. you're building a defense and you get to choose between jrue holiday and anthony davis...and you choose holiday? get ready to lose to my team. other oddities: nikola jokic is the league's best passer? i mean, he's good, but...the league's best passer? and i'm a huge doncic fan (huge), but no way he sniffs the mvp, imo. dallas's roster simply isn't good enough to get him in the conversation. it's a miracle he drags them to the playoffs every year, and they're weaker this year than last. honestly, jokic repeating as mvp would be my bet. he's the only guy on a team that's likely to win a ton of games who is sort of head and shoulders better than all of his teammates. i already commented in the nba forum about the love miami got from gms, too, which i found a bit odd.
JSM just gift-wrapped and presented the Lakers with some prime bulletin board material. Beautiful. Excellent work, JSM
While true, these are the league’s decision makers. After their peers-- the other players, these are the opinions that have weight over those of fans or a talking head on ESPN. I think they're riding the wave of his finals and Team USA impact. Even if it was close, I'm chosing an elite mobile big to anchor my defense 99 out of 100 times. In the past 20 years, I'd probably only take prime Ron over a big because he could change the competitive nature of a club and lock down any perimeter player. He's really good and it's impressive that someone that size can pass like that. But he's not a better passer than CP, Luka, or even Rondo. They're giving too much credit because it's an anomaly and that's causing them to grade him on a very friendly curve.
Nets being the overwhelming favorites to win it all seems a bit suspect. Like Kyrie is going to be Kyrie.
