I think honestly he's going to win fans right away. He's a hard working kid and can really shoot the ball. I think there's a good chance he succeeds in the NBA similar to someone like Nance Jr. He's got a great head on his shoulders and is going to give his all to this city and this team. He's going to turn a lot of heads in Summer League.
It’s fine. Feels like a reach to me, but I was wrong on Nance Jr, I dunno. Feels kind of Ryan Kelly-ish to me though, in that he can “shoot”, but the athleticism and defense aren’t there. It’s not like he’s super young for his raw areas either at 21.
love his competitive spirit and scoring/shooting ability. hate his lateral quickness. big question mark is his passing and team defense at the next level. in keeping with recent drafts, it was a reach. i'm not angry about it, though. if frank kaminsky and kelly olynyk have a place in the league, this guy probably does, too.
No, I know, I mean mainly he’s not very big/athletic, and he’s not a defender. He’s taller, but the same concerns as Kelly are there for me. I hope we have some guards in mind with the next picks.
i've seen him handle pretty well for a big. if he can really pass out of high post, could be a great fit.
I'll have to watch a little more on him. I don't remember him being a bad passer. He definitely can run the floor really well, he's just not a vertical threat at all. They are still in need of a threat to go up and dunk on someone or go get a tough rebound.
I’ve kept my eye on Mo since the tournament and the “Ryan Kelly” comparisons are far from that. What you notice about him other than his shooting and IQ is his motor and motivated play. Kid plays with heart and leaves it all on the court. Magic and Rob have made it clear that effort is one of the biggest checkmarks to having the Laker IT factor.
I really think his effort level is going to win people over right away. It was definitely the first thing that popped to me. This guy wants to win. I wouldn't have taken him at #25, but I get it and I'm not going to doubt the Lakers FO.
