After two straight offseasons where we have been the center for teams to dump their unwanted parts (Lin, Hibbert), I figured why not get proactive here and go through each team and find their dumps. If things all go to plan this thread will die signaling a bright future. If things go South, we can come back here and pick out our favorite dump (Picks excluded b/c obviously we are getting a 1st for this dirty work). Let's see what's cookin....

Atlanta - Tiago Splitter (1 year remaining 8.55 million)

Boston - Amir Johnson ( 1 year remaining 12 million guaranteed if not waived by 7/3/16)

Brooklyn - Jarrett Jack (1 year remaining 6.3 million, 500k guaranteed if not waived by 6/30/16)

Charlotte - Spencer Hawes (2 years remaining 12.6 million, 2nd year PO)

Chicago - Derrick Rose ( 1 year remaining, 21 million), Taj Gibson (1 year remaining, 8.9 million)

Cleveland - Channing Frye (2 years remaining, 15.6 million)

Dallas - JJ Barea (3 years remaining ~ 12 million)

Denver - Wilson Chandler (3 years remaining, 36 million, 3rd year PO)

Detroit - Jodie Meeks (1 year remaining 6.5 million)

Golden State Warriors - Andrew Bogut (1 year remaining, 12.68 million)

Houston - Corey Brewer (2 years remaining, 15 million), Trevor Ariza (2 years remaining, 15 million)

Indiana - Rodney Stuckey (2 years remaining, 14 million, 2nd year PO)

Clippers - Paul Pierce (2 years remaining, 7.1 million, 2nd year 1 million guaranteed)

Lakers - Nick Young ( 2 years remaining, 11 million, 2nd year PO)

Memphis - Brandan Wright ( 2 years remaining, 11.6 million)

Miami - Josh McRoberts ( 2 years remaining, 11.8 million, 2nd year PO)

Minnesota - Nikola Pekovic (2 years remaining, 23.7 million)

New Orleans - Omer Asik ( 4 years, 44 million, 4th year ETO), Alexis Ajinca (3 years, 15 million).........EL OH EL at those deals

Knicks - Jose Calderon (1 year remaining 7.7 million)

OKC - Nick Collison (1 year remaining 3.7 million)

Orlando - CJ Watson (2 years remaining, 10 million, 2nd year 1 million guaranteed) Ersan Ilyasova (1 year remaining, 8.4 million, fully guaranteed if not waived by 7/1/16)

Phoenix - Tyson Chandler (3 years remaining, 38 million)

Sacramento - Rudy Gay (2 years remaining, 27 million, 2nd year PO), Marco Belinelli (2 years remaining, 12 million)

San Antonio - Boris Diaw (2 years remaining, 1st year 3 million guaranteed, 2nd year NG if waived before 7/15/17)

Toronto - Patrick Patterson (1 year remaining, 6 million), Terrence Ross (3 years remaining, 31 million)

Utah - Alec Burks (3 years remaining, 33 million)

Teams not dumping d/t nobody to dump - Wizards, Portland, Philly, Milwaukee

Teams that pop out with some good dumps
    - Chi - I would take Rose in a dump, Pincus has alluded to this move
    - Den - Wilson Chandler didn't play last season, intriguing if healthy, but 3 years? Better be some good compensation for that
    - GSW - If they push for Durant, Bogut would be a solid dump
    - Hou - If Hou pushes for stars, Ariza would be a solid dump

Other than that, there are some bad contracts that I want no part of, some bad players I don't want on the team and some good players that won't get dumped. The pickins are slim so the FO better pull something off via draft, FA or trade.

    What are your favorite dumps?

I'd like Alec Burks a lot. I dig what he brings and his contract is going to be beautiful in the new CBA.

Bigger contracts I'd like so we could run at Westbrook next summer: Rose and Gay.

    1) Channng Frye would provide us with something we currently lack. A big man who can spread the floor. He's also a vet, so he adds some experience on a young roster. His defense leaves much to be desired.

    2) Andrew Bogut - Can still protect the rim, but he's somewhat injury prone and can't play huge minutes anymore. I've heard he has a bit of a standoffish personality, so he may not be the kind of vet the kids can talk to and pick his brain. The difference between him and Roy is that he can still grab rebounds. But his FT% stinks, so he's a candidate for the hack-a-big-who-can't-make-FT's strategy. Despite his obvious faults, I think he's an upgrade over Hibbert.

    3) Corey Brewer - I've always liked him. His IQ is a bit low, but he works hard and doesn't give up.

is huertas still under contract for next season?

if not, i'd love to see barea coming off the bench. i'd take chandler too but he probably wants to chase another ring at this point. burks would be an awesome add as well

Man. I can't get over how many times the words "solid dump" and "good dump" were put together in that post...and not once was it referring to crap...in the literal sense. Figuratively, obviously there's several.

If we get the 1st or second pick, I'd be very interested in moving it and Clarkson for Butler and either Rose or Gibson. I'd be especially happy about Gibson.

But to be honest, I wouldn't mind taking on Rose AND Gibson if we strike out on everyone and really need to get to that 80 million mark or whatever the cap floor is.

Not sure about a Gay dump since he has two years remaining. I can't just take it for granted that he opts out after next season.

Ariza is a nice solid dump.

I might also take a look at Calderon. Maybe sign him and Gasol to come in and be our veteran mentors. I feel like Pau is a guy we should really look at this offseason. He is still playing at a relatively high level and just needed to get out of D'Antoni's system. I think Luke could really learn to use him and he'd probably come here for relatively cheap. A center rotation of Gasol and Biyombo for 19-20 million a season for a couple years? We could do a lot worse.

I'm voting "none of the above." Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta take a "dump."

    great thread, doc.

I've been wondering about the rose angle for a while. not a great fit with the young back court, but it's a low-risk flier.

I'd love to get rudy gay, but I don't see why sac dumps him.

    ariza in dump is good.

wtf happened to omer asik? he was a useful piece in Houston for a couple years, then the howard acquisition squeezed him out. I thought he'd be better in NO. might be worth kicking the tires there.

Tyson chandler seems like a natural fit to me. la guy, veteran with championship experience, obviously past his prime, but can set an example and be part of the kind of system I'd like to see. imagine dlo lobbing to him. probably won't be worth much at the end of the deal, though.

@abeer3 I like Tyson too, but 3 years left on his contract is too much for my liking.

I like the Pau idea a lot. Unfortunately I just don't think he fits.

He's too slow to run n gun, which is what we plan to do. His days of being a defensive anchor are over. And I doubt he'd want to play on the bench. If we can sign him for a two year deal on the cheap as a stop-gap big man, sure. He wouldn't be a bad 3rd option if we strike out on Whiteside, Horford, etc.

might be able to coax something extra out of them and get them to eat young's deal in the process. but yeah, that last year is a bitter pill to swallow for sure.

Yeah Tyson had a horrible, injury ridden year. I'm not super interested unless they can give us something for taking the deal. We got a pick for taking Lin, we should get three picks for taking Tyson on that contract.

    I'd look at:

    Rose
    Bogut
    Ariza
    Illyasova
    Gay

Hmmm. If we want Westbrook, can we conserve our cap space by trading for Rose? Nice idea.

they take young, give us a future pick. after we inevitably strike out in FA, this is something I strongly consider. for all the talk about chandler being terrible, he put up 8/9 on 58% shooting in 24mpg. we would have killed for that last year.

do like Johnson and wright (though I think nance does some of what he does for less); do NOT like brewer. never understood the interest in that guy. every team moves on from him quickly after a brief honeymoon period. he basically has no redeeming basketball skill: can't shoot, handle, pass, or finish, and his defense is wildly overrated. jmo. :)

"after we inevitably strike out in FA"

The playing field has changed and this is no longer a given. Show some grit. Stop acting like a scared fan. Haven't you ever been in a fist fight?

22 minutes in 66 games isn't a guy I want to eat up payroll for another 3 years. At least it's something we shouldn't think to do right away. I like him, but if Phoenix can't keep him healthy then I think we have little chance of it. Nash still stings.

Like I said, we took Lin last time as an expiring and got a pick out of it. We better get more than one pick back if we take on Tyson's 3/33 million.

Now if that's something we do along with signing/trading for a stud wing then I'm all for it. We'd also probably need some stronger depth at the 5 spot.

    Russell/Clarkson
    Butler/Lee
    DeRozan/Dudley
    Randle/Nance Jr.
    Chandler/Black

I can roll with it, but it's going to sting having that 11 million tied up as we try to chase Westbrook next summer.
