I'll take that bet right now. 100 bucks the Lakers finish higher than 2nd and another 100 bucks they finish with more than 26 wins.

Not sure where to rank this team yet.. Too many variables right now.
I could see them gelling & grabbing a 7-8 seed, or being right here at 26 wins like BSPN projects.

I don't know about this one. I guess they're expecting Kobe to not be very good and get injured again, because if he's healthy he's still very good and we don't lose that much. That's barely better than last season and we were plagued by injury, and we have a better roster. I don't expect us to be great, but with the additions of Russell, Randle, Williams, Bass, and Hibert, and if Kobe can stay on the court most of the time, I don't think we are 2nd to last in the West.

I feel like 24 wins may be a little low for the Wolves. They'll be entering this year with a healthier Rubio, a healthy Kevin Martin, an improved Wiggins and Lavine, and a raw Towns who at the very least will provide adequate rim protection. Mix that in with steady veterans like Andre Miller, KG, and Tayshaun Prince, and you have a team that can flirt with 30 wins IMO.

I agree with this. Of course like you said last year the team was injury plagued coupled with the worst defense in the league. With a motivated Hibbert and guys playing solid team D I see us improving in that area. Plus we're due for a season free of injury after injury. It's just been crazy the last few years. Anyway I see us gaining at least 15 more wins if everything falls into place for us.

Teams that'll do worse than the Lakers:

    1. Blazers - I love Lillard, but the talent level after him falls off a cliff after him. They lost Aldridge, Mathews AND Batum. That's their entire core! The next best player is probably Kaman...yeah, they're going to be 2nd to last in the West imo.

    2. Phoenix - Dragic was the focal point of their offense. He made a lot of players look better than they are out there. Bledsoe is not going to do that, neither is Brandon Knight. They also lost one of the Morris twins, who I thought were some of their more consistent players. And now, the other Morris twin is not happy, so you basically lost both of them. Don't know how much Tyson Chandler has left in his tank, especially playing for a lower tier team.

    3. Dallas - Unless Deron Williams is looking to resurrect his Utah days, an aged Dirk, a role playing Parsons, a broken Wes Mathews and no center is not a playoff team. Please...

The Nuggets lost Ty Lawson. The Kings are in limbo with Boogie, despite adding some pretty decent players.

The only team on the upswing are the Jazz and their young core of Burke, Favors, Gobert, and Exum (who happens to be injured again...).

If we can click offensively I think we can make some noise and be better than expected. If we insist on this incompetent Scott offense which doesn't make the other team work on defense then yeah I can see us being second worst in the West or even worst in the league.

    lower than Portland?

eh, don't really care. they're not making the playoffs, but I'm guessing they win low 30s unless their terrible injury luck continues for a 4th straight year.

I think that's way too low and I was somewhat called out as being something of a pessimist for predicting only 32 wins. Like abeer3 said, I only see us sinking that low if we get hit with the injury bug and I'm truly hoping we are over that bad luck string.

Bovada in Vegas has 3 teams in West below us for championship odds: Nuggets, Minni & Sac (who now have Rondo Cousins & Gay). We're tied with the Blazers, Suns and Jazz for 4th to last in the West. If say we beat all those teams that's 9th which last year in the West was 45 wins (OKC). The Suns and Jazz were far better than us last year so I would say they expect LAL to be quite a bit better. The Jazz did lose Exum but ESPN still has them projected to win 14 games more than us. The Suns lost Dragic at the deadline but added Chandler and Teletovic so they will not be bad at all imo.

It's possible, but I think we'll be better than that. I'm not saying that we're going to make the playoffs, but this seems a bit... low.
