Hi all, I'm from the Lakers community on Reddit and I created an end of season survey a few days ago. Would appreciate it if you can fill it out. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...KZLB0M7qer6T-m60IAVdYpVg/viewform?usp=sf_link
Hi. Are you just gathering responses and leaving or also planning on hanging around? Have you observed the site here for awhile? Just curious.
Don't really know how this forum works yet, but after I get responses I'll post the results both here and /r/lakers. Feedback is appreciated.
Well duh. I'm talking about how the overall site works, including the layout. Don't know what the problem is here.
Ah, well then the overall site works like this: People come here and post comments about the Lakers. Sometimes people add to or comment on those comments. People may also start a "thread" about a particular subject such as, a player wherein people will then post relevant comments. It's pretty revolutionary stuff. As far as the layout there is a Forums tab, which takes to the previously discussed forums. This constitutes about 95% of the site activity at a guess. Game Time is live text window for Laker games, Stats are stats, Blogs are for Blogging Schedule is the Lakers schedule when announced. Media is vids and media stuff. Members is a member list. Pretty standard layout, easy to navigate and understand. No problem here just trying to suss out if you're here for your own benefit entirely the tone is getting a bit entitled here. It's not like people do not help other active members with there various media ventures or social media or whatever but the key word here is active. I don't think anyone has a problem discussing end of the season stuff with you but a survey is pretty one-sided.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm curious as to what one-sided means in this context or how this survey benefits me personally. I'm not doing this for a project or a venture, and I intend to release the results to see a consensus of Laker fans. So it "benifits" both sides in this instance, although I never saw it as benefiting me or someone specific. That is the purpose of creating this. If this place is only for discussion then that is fine, but I'm curious as to why some guy in this thread said he wouldn't open it. Seems hostile for no reason.
Well by one-sided, it really isn't benefiting me but I can't speak for others. Suffice to say we probably would post our own poll to those same questions if we were interested in a straight vote count and we do on somethings but for most subjects I think the forum likes to talk them out. Other opinions influence our own and vice-versa which can very well change how we would vote on these things anyways and so that's the reason. Example I'd rather see a thread about best dunk of year than vote on one because I'd get to see a lot of dunks and probably a lot I missed in games I didn't see. People don't like clicking links posted by strangers, it's not being hostile, it's being careful. It's easy to disguise bad links too. We're more likely to have a thread with a lot of videos and comments that is attached to a poll for this type of thing.
For all the s*** Alex has to take about his hair here I think it's only right he wins dunk of the year and then keep him next year. I like Alex. In spite of ..... LeBron himself couldn't believe it. Sure miss Larry's.
@latotokyo123 .... regardless of how much participation you get on this poll you should stick around and get to know this place. Numbers of members here are active on multiple forums and hands down the best graphic design and site specifically created gifs by one of our own members (on leave) that you will find on any message board of any kind on the planet. As a for instance click on the bottom left most button on the color bar at bottom, which says, "Style Chooser" if you hover .... and check out your options for Lakers color themes. Knowledgeable folks and the humor helps to get us through these past dark seasons.
Hey latotokyo123, welcome to LB! Happy to help a fellow Lakers fan. I’ll fill out your survey right now.
Hi @latotokyo123 ! I filled out your survey. I don't have as much basketball knowledge to contribute as some of the very intelligent folks here, many of whom have posted in this thread! So I hope my survey responses are useful. Instead, I tend to contribute more with front office insights I have that I pass on, but I suspect you'll catch on quick if you stick around (which you should)! Best, Mr. Rambis
