If I'm Gilbert, I trade Lebronze. See what he can get for him. Restock that team and try to stay relevant.

And just to piss him off as payback for the decision.

I feel that Lebronze to LA is inevitable. I just think it will be with the Clippers and not us. Ultimately that's fine by me as long as we get another top tier FA to team up with PG.

If we stretch Deng or somehow trade his contract away, would we have enough cap space for PG, Lebron, and Westbrook?

    Ball
    Westbrook
    George
    Lebron
    Lopez

with Ingram, Nance, Zu and (Randle/Clarkson) off the bench.

That's exactly why I don't want LeBron here, as soon as things get tough, he bolts. But, not before getting his FO to trade for all the players he wants and sign his friends to big deals. Leaves franchises in ashes. It's not worth it unless you're somehow guaranteed a title, which with him, you are absolutely not.

If we found a way to completely divest from Clarkson, Randle, and Deng without taking money back we'd have... an insane amount of money on our books. Let's just say we traded Randle, Clarkson, #27, and #28 for Paul George. We'd have the following guaranteed contracts: Nance Jr., Ingram, and Ball. Zubac would be non-guaranteed.

We'd have cap holds from Lopez, Nwaba, and Brewer. We could waive all of those.

We'd have just 20.23 million with Nance Jr., Ingram, Ball, and Zubac. With Paul George included we'd have just 48.66 million on the books meaning 54.34 million to spend.

LeBron costs about 34 million. That leaves 20 million for a third wheel. That's probably not enough for Westbrook, but somebody probably takes that. Hell Brook Lopez probably takes that or less to stay.

    Ball
    George
    Ingram
    LeBron
    Lopez

Yeah. Dude is probably going to ask for 4 years (with opt-outs for him of course after each year). How many years does he have left? 3 maybe? One next year with Cleveland and two for us? We'll be paying a dude for two years like Kobe at the end, but instead of it being Kobe who won us 5 rings, it will be Lebron who most of us hate anyway, and because of GS won't win us any rings.

I'll take 2-3 years of LeBron because he's LeBron. A trancendent, once in a lifetime type talent. People say we won't be able to beat the Warriors, but we don't know if that group even stays together. You get Paul George in here and you pair him with LeBron. Young core keeps developing like you hope and I think you've got as much a chance as anyone with those two elite players.

F*** LeBron. NO!! How about Westbrook and some other young Stud not yet at max to team with PG and our best young core? Is WB even a pipe hope? Can he opt out after next year?

Butler wants to be coached by a hardass. He would not fit unless you buy the Lue Iron Coach bs.

Team up with Chris Paul and ostensibly Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony.

    Let's see ......

    how old is Lebron?

no need to bring him to LA for when the wheels fall off ..... and when it happens it can happen fast ...... lots of miles on those legs

I'd pass at that age if it took gutting your entire team and handing Lebron the GM job here .......

if he comes as just a piece in FA as a vet trying to help a team, fine ....... but we all know LBJ is not doing that.

    I think

There are only a few things in life that would force me to no longer root for the Lakers no matter where I am on the earth.

Signing LeBron James is one of those few things.

Under no circumstances would i patronize , support or encourage support for the Laker organization during the time LeBron was here and possibly ever following. LeBron James the basketball player is the Donald Trump of the NBA (in so many ways).

F*** LeBron James the basketball player (lbj the philanthropist is a completely separate person in my opinion). I want him nowhere near the Lakers. I'd be far happier losing without him than winning a championship with him.
