Lebron will be one of the greatest players and stat stuffers of all time.

But the ultimate winner? The GOAT? No. Not even close.

if you had to go through history to pick one all time great to take the last shot, or to carry you to a victory in a game 7 and will your team to victory, he’s not it. (My definition)

longevity is great, but dudes balls shrunk a few too many times over his career to be in my GOAT conversation. But he is great. Just never be the greatest.

As Magic was my guy before Lebron, it still pisses me off that Jordan got into his prime surrounded by awesome talent right when the league got diluted from expansion.

Those 4 additional teams made it very difficult for teams to keep good second tier players and the Euro revolution hadn't fully blossomed. For all the crap Krause gets he really was a great GM: drafting Pippen and Grant from obscurity, scouting Europe early and getting Kukoc, the Rodman signing distracts from other great moves like getting Harper and Bison Dele. Lebron never had that talent of that second threepeat team

And come on look it was reflected in the quality of their opponents in the Finals - that Utah Jazz team: Hornacek, Russell, Ostertag, Anderson? Those guys sucked err just not very good. I think that entire supporting cast would struggle to get PT on this lakers team

    Anways it will be interesting to see how Lebron looks this season;
    1) Will he the clear MVP type of player before he got hurt
    2) Was the high ankle the straw that breaks the camel back and Father Time gets Lebron to look ordinary

Every year was going to be like this once he left Cleveland: can't really know what you're going to get from him since he's really freakin old for a basketball player

Honestly my one regret from that era was the bulls never facing the Rockets. I think those Rocket teams would have given the bulls a run for their money.

I think it's sort of a disservice to say that Mike had real help outside of Pippen and maybe Kukoc. You look at guys like Wennington, Longley, BJ, Kerr, Paxson, Buechler, Caffey, Salley, King, Perdue (LOL), Williams etc etc...I mean Rodman, Harper, Pippen, Kukoc and Ho Grant were the squad and they weren't all on the team at the same time. 91 when they beat the pants off of us they only had Pippen and Ho Grant and the rest of the team were just role players. If Perkins doesn't hit that late 3 in game one they would have swept us. Granted Magic pulled his hammy but I still don't see us beating them with a healthy Magic either.

This is their championship team in year 2. LOL I mean c'mon, who outside of Pippen is a real killer on that squad?

Take Jordan off that team and they barely make a 7-8 seed or miss the playoffs entirely.

For the sake of your argument though I do agree that Pippen is a real Robin to Jordans Batman where LeBron hasn't always had that. That was the one constant Jordan could always rely on. But again it wasn't like they had an all star team with 3 star players ever either.

On the other hand I've seen LeBron carry some straight garbage supporting casts deep into the playoffs. In my opinion he also makes his teammates better then Michael ever did.

When Jordan retired, they made the ECF. Those teams were well assembled. But either way, you can only face who is in front of you.

Neither. Kareem is the greatest basketball player of all time. High school, college and NBA combined. 7 foot 2 with the most unstoppable shot ever created. They broke the mold with that guy.

I’ll say this though Lebron is getting way up there. If he wins two more championships and breaks Kareem’s scoring record I might have to give it to him for NBA goat.

Umm Horace Grant was really really good. Even now he would be an ideal 4/5 guy in the modern NBA as he was able to guard both wings. Lakers fan remember him when he was old but when he was young he was super athletic and switchable.

Plus the point remains the other teams just sucked: expansion just neutered these teams. Have you looked at their main rivals the Knicks: a bunch of slow plodding players who couldn't shoot the ball (they were playing lineups with Mason, Oakely, and Ewing in the same lineup!). The proof here is that without Jordan they won 50 games were one really bad call from going to the ECF again!

    1. Michael Jordan
    2. Kobe Bryant
    3.........Who cares

I've seen all 3 play, no one is better than those two. I don't give a s*** what anyone says or ANALyzes. I saw with my own eyes, in their primes. MJ and Kobe's games were levels above anyone.

Two of the very best, no doubt. But, you are too young to have seen Kareem in his prime "with your own eyes".

In any GOAT discussion I really prefer to split it into Bigs and Wings. It's impossible to compare Kareem to Jordan for instance. They impacted the game in entirely different ways. But we can compare Jordan to Kobe, or Kareem to Shaq.

I have Kareem as the GOAT Big and MJ as the GOAT Wing.

I agree with you TIME. And I too witnessed Kareem in his prime. He’s the reason I’m a basketball fan!
