I don't understand this. He's basically, realistically saying he's done with the Olympics, at this age and as many as he's taken part in. What's narcissistic about that?

As far as getting the hell out of L.A. for them, there's a good chances with this town it could wind up who knows how well they pull it off. Personally I think Bass virtue signaling by not allowing cars to drive to the events is going to make everything more difficult for those who want to go. All she really needed to do was put out a request to all companies in the vicinity that could pull it off .... to allow as many of their people to work from home for the 3 weeks or whatever. A lot less traffic to deal with, and a lot less stories about people having a hard time getting around and how many extra hours they had to spend just to attend. Not to mention the safety issue with rapid transit in L.A. Just my unsolicited 2 cents.

Yes I think he would have played in LA and not gone to Paris 4 years from now, honestly. I think you are off on an undeserved tangent, this time, about LeBron again.

Rich people don’t deal with LA traffic, I am sure LeKing has his own private elevator that drops him off from his house to his Locker at Staples.

lebron knew this was his last realistic chance at winning something meaningful. same thing with curry and KD. that's the main reason why they all decided to play

and yes, if LA had hosted the 24 games instead of 28, he still wouldn't have played 4 years from now. you're looking way too much into a comment that has everything to do with traffic and not wanting to deal with the hordes of people who will descend upon the city in 28

LA will finally clean up their city from the toilet it is right now. Let’s hope it doesn’t look worse after like it does in other countries.

Yeah he does and that's a dumb, tired take. LeBron doesn't have a multi-faceted mid range and post game like Kobe, Pierce and others.... but he still does plenty of damage from those locations scoring or passing. What is that extreme off one leg fall away he hits well if not mid range. There's been times in recent years I've kind of marveled at the acceleration going away from the defender, along with adequate for the purpose elevation. Hitting considerably higher % of his 3s isn't small potato's either. Kwame would get his face broken trying to handle James's bullet passes. :D

ok, i'll say it: i'm with kwame in some respects. lebron should be a midrange master, and he's not, and it hurts his team's chances. i always thought he'd be karl malone as he aged, and he went for super-sized steph curry. i get why he did it, but i'm not sure it serves winning.

I understand the point and can agree a bit but he goes too strong. Bron literally killed the Raptors with mid range like we have never seen in NBA. He literally made the same shot like 10 times in a row, in the playoffs. It was unguardable. He still has it and banks a lot of his turn arounds at the left, 0 degrees to the basket.
But I do agree that he didn't develop his offensive arsenal inside the paint where he's a killer there right now, which could help him navigate the last years of his career.
But then again, he's the highest scorer of all time, by a good margin and continues to average over 25ppg at 40y old and plus 20 seasons. It's unique so I think he knows what he's doing better than...uhmm...Kwayme Brown?

yeah, it's both. had it been the bucks or even the C Bags, it would be the greatest accomplishment in basketball history.

He did have his Dirk mid-range shot going during 2020 and 2021. Won a championship and would have won another if AD had stayed healthy. He went away from it after Westbrook came because he didn’t have any shooters and zero spacers after that.

The one legged Dirk fall back from mid range? What I was referencing above … he shoots those more than anything mid range and not “all” that infrequently. ??

looks like his highest midrange volume here came in 2021, but it's still really small compared to say, 2011-12 (which may have been the peak of his powers, tbh).

but i'm one of those luddites who thinks the "threes or dunks" philosophy is cool if you just want to rack up regular season wins against second and third tier competition. but i guess boston won the title last year, so maybe those folks finally won the argument. to me, prior to that, the teams that could win in the playoffs could score from that part of the floor. two reasons: first, it's really hard to defend right in the center of the floor, particularly if the player getting it there can pass (but even if he's not a great passer). second, it's the shot defenses are currently designed to give up.
