too bad they can't just make him player-coach. that'd be far more ideal than hiring whoever is available

I think JJ could possibly be for and “with” him in that regard same as Kyrie would take away the need for LeBron to have to feel in any games like HE had to start playing PG again if a game wasn’t going well.

I understand your thinking. Where I see it differently is that to me LeBron is no longer a great player and he can't take it over anymore. Teams love when he tries because it makes it so easy to play defense on us down the stretch. One reason we constantly fold against Denver. Combine that with LeBron not able to play defense at anywhere near an NBA level anymore, combine that with his stat padding, blaming others for his bad decisions and turnovers, lack of getting back when he does throw it away, his embarrassing temper tantrums and flopping. IMO it is a pipedream to think the Lakers can win with LeBron as the main guy. Just a question of what kind of pipe...lol. We limped into the playin with LeBron and AD both healthy. At this point he can fill seats and score points, if winning a championship is the priority, you go another direction.

i'm not has harsh as toklat, but i've been saying something similar since last year. people were making fun of that take when lebron would score 40 or take over a game in the clutch this year, but to me that was always fool's gold. sure he can still do that sometimes. but it's not inevitable like it is for prime superstars. and i really felt like when he took the ball and played point on offense, we just routinely got stuck in the mud. i've seen folks blame dlo for that, but i'm not sure i agree completely.

i wonder if we'll finally sign cp3 this year and then maybe finally lebron will let someone else handle the ball in the 4th quarter.

Sometimes reality can be harsh. When everything is built around you and given to you, and you fail miserably, then refuse to take responsibility for that failure, that particular person is exposed. IMO it would be complete idiocy to do the same thing, yet again. Build around Prime AD, hire a coach that lays out a good plan that plays to Prime AD's strength. LeBron needs to be a clear second fiddle. Eg. Kareem turning the team over to Magic. Kareem was still vital to winning championships and was good with that, he didn't act like a big baby letting his narcisstic behavior ruin the team and set the franchise back for years. One of the many reasons Kareem is the GOAT and LeBron isn't. Tim Duncan was willing to play less of a role but still vital and still won. Win with AD or spend another season babysitting LeBron. Hmmmm.

A smart coach should be able to scheme for both as we did in the Bubble.

Impact metrics have come a long way, and would strongly disagree with the tone of this post. Agree to disagree I suppose. The ceiling of the LeBron/AD duo was capped by the 2021 offseason.

like i said i think toklat overstated the point, but those same metrics would tell you this lebron isn't the lebron from a few years ago--and that our competitors employ versions of that lebron. and lebron makes more money than several of those guys--by like, 30% in some cases. this is just what it is with aging stars.

hey, try being boston. they're on top of the world right now, but jaylen brown has plateau-ed at 1/3 of a 39 year old lebron and makes similar money starting next year. yipes!

funny edit, although i'll be the wet blanket and say all replays of contact to the face look like delayed/exaggerated reactions. you could run a reel of like, 100 of these from lots of different players.

Oh good, we will have LeBron, his son and the coach Bron hand picked. Why don’t we bring in Rich Paul for GM?

I mean... we do need to fill the position. He had a Rolodex. Maybe he and Rob could vibe on what it was like to be an agent.

Jeanie probably couldn't afford him. Then you also you have to find a new office for Kurt. It probably smells in there by now. He has high socks-on-the-desk energy. Then it's a whole fumigation and pest control issue. It's a nightmare.
