I don't know what it's worth, to be honest, but Sagarin's Ratings have the Lakers playing the #1 most difficult schedule so far. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nba/sagarin/ FWIW I think it's worth a good bit. It allowed me to predict a 15-point blowout loss last night (and not be too surprised by a 35-point blowout loss). Additionally: W/L Record of teams that have beaten LA: 85-35 W/L Record of teams LA has beaten: 19-16 Total Games: 13 Teams with Winning Record: 12 Record in those games: 2-10 Teams with Losing Record: 1 Record in those games: 1-0 Little consolation, as we need to be able to beat everyone to earn meaningful (Playoff) victories, but it might put some things in perspective. It doesn't matter too much, but at this point hopefully the Lakers punt the season officially. A good indicator of that would be going after Mekel and Miller which they're doing. Talent that's slipped through the cracks is something Mitch and Jim are actually really good at finding. It's a good sign that we're already working those guys out.
Yeah, sounds like they will have to drop one or two more players to open up roster spots. If it's Price who goes to make room for Mekel, I have no problem with it. As much as I was high on X last year, he doesn't seem to fit here long term. They have already talked of dropping him. I would like to get a look at Miller perhaps as SF. We'll see. Ronnie has left so little impact I wouldn't mind a do over in the backup PG department. I do have a soft spot for X, but with his injury and rocky start . . . might start over there, too. Plus Clarkson looks more like a backup SG than PG. We could still use help at SF since Wes sucks.
To some people, these truthful facts that actually play a HUGE difference on the OVERALL teams performance doesnt mean nothing because they always want to talk themselves into things they want to believe or numbers that arent relevant to the overall big picture. Hopefully those "fans", debbie downers who were spoiled from the previous Laker teams, will wake up and realize were doing the best that we can, utilizing what we have and making progress towards the future. Even IF at the current moment isnt doing so at crazy great strides. So thank you @trodgers , @therealdeal for keeping me coming back to this website because some of these people are just not getting it and theyre expectations for this team and certain players are unreal.
I think one advantage of the extended garbage time last game (basically the entire 4th quarter) was that it allowed them to get a look at the end of bench guys, if management are indeed evaluating them to select someone to cut to make room for a new player. Working all those new guys out is only part of the process, the other half is having to select a current roster guy to cut.
