Just a quick google search reveal other bizarre incidents JJ Redick has been involved in, including a possible alleged racial slur filled email to an ex, an abortion contract with said ex, and a video where he used a racial slur towards Asians. Did the Lakers not do any due diligence? I think the Lakers have outdone themselves after the Darvin Ham debacle and sunk to new coaching depths.
Press conference was okay. Have to wait and see how he builds out his staff, etc etc. I'm really hoping we got this one right.
No doubt that's worrisome on all accounts. He rubs me wrong as well Juronimo for what it's worth. Mostly though I'm worried that he's never coached before on any level. Doesn't mean he can't but I'm concerned. No one seemed to share my twinge of jealousy for Cleveland landing Atkinson but I really hope we are doing the right thing here. People posted his losing record in the NBA as HC but there is no context about the crappy team he first inherited in NJ who went 20 and 62. The next year he made the playoffs. I'm not that sold that he would be the right guy but I like that he at least has experience. It would suck to blow it again on another hire. Well, on the plus side, Lebron seems to like JJ and this is his farewell show, so he got his choice.

Thank you Lord Jesus. It was sorta entertaining in a trolling kind of way at first, but then our brother just went off the rails. I hope he's ok. This doesn't feel like normal behavior.
Yeah, its tough. Don't want to go overboard with the doom and gloom but he is an unknown and our process here was questionable. I'm just focusing in on the positives on him for now. He knows the game. He's instantly the most media savvy guy in the organization which we do need. The locker room seems to be embracing the hire. So maybe this all comes together. Let's see where they go with the staff. Some of the names mentioned seem solid so we will see.
which part? i know you're not buying the "everything was a sham because we were hiring redick the whole time" b*******, so was it the lowballing of hurley? the failure to interview nori? to me, it looks like we looked at several different options, had strong interest in two of them. offered to one, got turned down. offered to our second choice and got it. is there something more professional or convincing about how detroit or charlotte has gone about hiring their coach? again, not rhetorical questions. my beef is that if we wanted hurley that badly, we needed to offer more. i'm not sure if that would have been wise, but it's the thing that i didn't like about the process. just don't make the offer unless you know he's going to take it. they misread the room, and that's bad. other than that, seemed ok to me.
Well as I said, I'm not going to go overboard with the doom and gloom. I feel like I've gone through my issues with the process in detail over the last few weeks and don't really want to keep harping on it. I am pulling for JJ as our coach and hope for the best. He's our guy now. I'll just say its a mix of a number of things starting with the fact that we again found ourselves needing a new coach and whether the organization has truly grown from past experiences.
yeah, i forgot to add that the real issue is that we keep ending up here. the best coach hiring process is no process. i just don't agree that we looked like a bunch of clowns throughout here. there were some media folks that wanted to paint that picture, but it wasn't true, imo. just like they've done before when it wasn't true. i have no idea how this will go, but i'm not losing sleep over how it occurred.
