Gotcha. I see Ownership as a separate category. This is just my own Lakers worldview - I see it like this: Jeannie / Minority owners (Confidants with influence = Linda Rambis / Magic / Phil Jackson) --------------------------------------------------------------- Front Office = Kurt Rambis / Pelinka
You are right TIME. My bad for lumping in Ownership with FO - I thought it all fell under that mantle.
it's funny how the clippers advertise themselves as being the "working man's team" or blue collar team when in reality they're the ones spending big $$$ and the lakers FO is shopping at the 99 cent store
I wonder if there will be outside pressure on the Buss family because of their….let’s just say “budget constraints”. I’m not talking about Laker fan sites but national sports shows and writers. Will there start to be calls from ESPN and such to sell the team to people or groups that have money to spend.
I doubt it for a few reason including recent success and just the optics of it. She’s one of only a handful of women owners in sports (it’s just her and Benson in NO for the NBA if I recall correctly). I don’t want to open a can of worms but i think it would be a bad look for the media to come down on her especially since her team just won a title a year or so ago. And I say that as someone who has shared plenty of criticism toward the front office. I think it will take a prolonged period of failure for the media to turn on her.
Lebron, Klutch and Jeanie deserve each other. They all thrive on dysfunction and very toxic. Perfect marriage
lee jenkins earnin' his keep! i thought they undermined their point with the borderline mysogynistic takes. no need to go after her persona away from basketball/financial choices. she's empowering the rambii, and basketball boobs from 20 years ago have nothing do with that. she's operating with an illusory hard cap and making poor decisions about how to allocate under it. attacking all that is fine.
Live look of Jeanie standing in front of Magic's house. No originality or creativity. There's better people in the world to get advice from than former Lakers, especially one who abandoned his post in the middle of the night...like he was trying to catch a train out of town.
I don't really want her leaning on Magic either, but her only other go to counselors are Phil Jackson who messed up the Knicks, and Linda Rambis. In other words...
Jerry West was “begging” to come back to the Lakers “in any capacity”?? Sure he was, Ralph Mason. Anyone here believe that hyperbolic description of Jerry West? Who the hell is Ralph Mason BTW?
