^^^ I've mentioned it before. He talked about around 20 people in connection to defensive awards and AD wasn't even mentioned. I just can't accept someone who supposedly is a basketball junkie and also likes anayltics not appreciating AD.

JJ will be as much of a disaster as Puke was. May be not as big as Pimple, but he's gonna suck.

If he gets hired, he's going to have to answer a question about that publicly or privately. He's wrong with the vote, period. But the great thing about JJ being on ESPN and on multiple pods, is you know how he feels about a player with comments and long form responses and not just who he checks on a ballot.

Heaps of AD praise in interview with KCP

Doesn't think he's an Alpha (many here said the same) but has high praise for him

When we attacked him for not touching a ball since April, he defended AD

Positive stuff on AD before the season

Sticking up him when he was criticized

Stood up for our bubble 'ship, went head to head with Bev on it. f*** Bev! So that gets bonus points from me

So let's pump the breaks or do the leg work to learn more.

Yeah. It does feel like Nash to me.

Not sold we can put together a staff to mask his lack of experience. Even if we can, will the front office pony up.

Rob should have hired Kidd as the HC, and made Vogel his assistant.

No. Kidd was not going to get a HC job anywhere after how he left as a coach and his off court stuff (ESPECIALLY on a Jeanie Buss team, you can't condone that). He had to take the demotion first before anyone, from a PR perspective, could consider him as a HC again.

If we hired him as the first chair, we could have hired him as the HC. Sometimes I think we get too caught up in optics.

You can disagree whether you think that's right or wrong, but that's the way of the world. Fact is a woman owner could not do that. Fact also is no one ELSE was willing to do that or he wouldn't have had to take the assistant gig with us.

With money, sponsors, potential investors and the world watching optics matter in today's world. Optics over facts. Just how it is.

He's been the best coach of the playoffs BUT his job was also on the line approaching the playoffs. Go take a peak over the fence into Mavsland, many fans and media alike didn't know if he'd be back next year if things broke a certain way.

Lakers showing interest certainly helped him lock up that extension.

    lmao

yeah, let's hire the guy who flamed out in bkn and milwaukee instead of the one who took the pacers to b2b ECF and actually made things challenging for the heatles. the bucks went from barely making the playoffs to title contenders overnight once they ditched kidd for budenholzer

im sure kidd is a better coach now compared to his time in bkn and milwaukee, but that's just a hilariously awful take. not surprising though, given your odd hate for the guy who coached this team to a title

so... because he at some point said something positive about AD, the d****** decision to exclude him from all D mention is OK?

Nah. It was dumb. And will continue to be dumb. Which tells something about how he views the game.

I've pumped enough breaks on this org incompetence.

Vogel sucked his last two seasons in Indiana, both seasons in Orlando, and had 1 good season here, and sucked for his next 3 on the bench, including getting fired this season. Get off his Johnson dude

Same thing will cost Rondo a spot on someone’s bench too.

    Right.

The organization has not earned the benefit of the doubt with coaching hires.

as jsm said...i'm not so sure. he has luka doncic, so he has a ton of room for error. without the midseason trades, he might have been looking for a new job this summer.

which organization has, though? i don't know the stats, but i'm guessing most nba head coaches last about three years or less on average in their jobs. is everyone who fires coaches bad at hiring them? because that's basically everyone. only miami and san antonio are good organizations?

    edit: found something on it:

    https://hoopshype.com/2019/05/05/nba-coaches-fired-hired-20-season-study-spurs-winning-percentage/

2.4 seasons. and it's correlated with success, but as slick will tell you, probably in the reverse direction (s***ty players -> fired coaches not s***ty coaches -> losses).

ham had his shot. he made some mistakes and lost the locker room. the next guy will get two years to see if the same happens. historically, it does.

I just cannot get on board this reasoning that just because experienced assistants fail as head coaches all the time, then experience doesn't matter and its ok to hire a rookie coach.

I get that you're trying to feel better about the JJ hire, but this makes absolutely no rational sense.

If it was just coaching, that would be one thing. The outcomes are hard to control and there are many contributing factors outside of a coach's control.

But there is all the rest. Medical staff. Player development. Writing on statues...
