Like the Hire and thread but would suggest you edit and put some other “source” up top on this after what that jack*** did during all this. Or just state the hire yourself.
Buha's reporting 4 years in neighborhood of 8M. Good job Rob. Jeanie probably. https://x.com/jovanbuha/status/1803873709469634815
So if we put together a good to great staff, which is the goal .... JJ's and LeBron's basketball minds feeding off each other (what it's going to be realistically) is not better than one of the retreads?
The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a four-year contract with JJ Redick to make him the franchise's next coach, sources told ESPN on Thursday. Redick, an ESPN NBA analyst who played 15 years in the league, met with Lakers vice president and general manager Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss over the weekend, and conversations on the vacancy continued throughout the week, sources said. Pelinka offered Redick the job Thursday morning, sources said. Pelinka became sold on Redick's ability to connect with players and his basketball IQ and believes surrounding Redick with an elite coaching staff will help shorten his learning curve into his first coaching job, sources said https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40393973/sources-lakers-hiring-jj-redick-4-year-deal-coach
what makes you think redick is some sort of bball savant? he's a TV analyst and hosts a podcast with lebron. the latter being why he got the job
Again, I’m not super excited but I’m not against it either. I’m looking forward to see who he adds to the staff and as I mentioned I’m suspending judgement until I see JJ in action. Could be good, who knows? The main thing for me is I can’t see JJ being as clueless as Ham was last season.
I have nothing against the hire.. All I want is for us to stick with a Coach for more than 2 years, FFS. Build a culture... Good luck J.J.
it's more interesting to me than a borrego type hire, and i'm really not sure that young assistants who never played pro (adelman/nori types) have some tremendous experiential advantage over a 15 year nba role player. guy's seen a lot of locker rooms, been through a lot of Xs, Os, and personnel dynamics. like that he stressed getting lebron off the ball in his interview. been asking for that since he got here.
LOL ... that's the point of the whole hire. It's not ME .... those that follow him, here included, say he is. Why do you put ZERO stock in all of that is a better question IMO.
imagine if every company in the World started hiring people for key positions on the basis that having no experience is better than being a retread. The world would turn into poop tomorrow. I wish JJ all the best, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but there is no rational way to look at this other than this being another amateur-hour decision by this joke of a front office.
who says that? this is the same guy who doesn't believe AD is one of the top defenders in the game and at one point questioned the existence of dinosaurs. yeah, high IQ my a**
As Slick likes to say, we're going to find out soon enough. If it works well with He and LeBron (whom you ignore from my comments on what I see with the situation) .... will you give any credit to them or be one of those bitter still because they didn't follow some rote in Business plan?
Read the other thread. Come on man there's a number of respected members here who have. It's not just ME. I follow what those that do know about him have to say.
Hurley was the only hire I was excited for. Every other name, JJ excluded, sounded like either a mediocre coach, or one that needs a super specific roster to be successful. On that basis alone I’m very good with rolling the dice on JJ. But I want to know details of what he said in the interview and how he expects to run this team. Those details will probably influence my level of confidence.
JJ is my current favorite coach… until he isn’t. Now hire Rondo, Dudz, Handy, and most of all a legit defensive savant to coach us up. I do think this is going to take Reaves to the next level.
