Just watch him talk about basketball. He has 200+ episodes of his podcast. Just read the questions, how he approaches it, what he values. I mean, this is probably the one guy who anyone in the world knows better, because he has thousands of clips discussing basketball. While on any other coach or assistant coach you have nothing. I think every Laker fan needs to see at least the Mind the Game podcast to get an idea of who he is. Then a few random episodes of the Old Man and the Tree to understand his basketball philosophy. That will help building a consolidated opinion of him Huhhhhh...EVERY company hires people with no experience. You have to be hired to get experience, no? I don't think being an assistant coach is more valuable than playing the game. If you had any experience in team sports, a player is much more involved than an assistant. And there's always guys who are more savant for the strategic point of view, or being leaders in the locker room, etc. Hell, all the GREAT coaches say that the players are the ones who make the tough decisions. The ones who make the better reads. JJ played at the highest level for 15 years and clearly was a guy who liked to read the game. I think that's more valuable than spending a couple of years distributing bibs in practice and handing out papers with the stats to players. Now, I do agree that there's a learning period that everyone needs and it's a gamble to have him going through that period with us. But it's the same for Nori, Adelman or whoever. It was the same for Ham, being a HC is a completely different position from being an assistant, so the learning curve is the same for JJ or Nori/Adelman. If experience were a main factor, we would be hiring Van Gundy
He's the coach now, gotta roll with it, and wish him the best. The results will be extremely scrutinized, as always. It's the Lakers. Now that it's a done deal .Let's go get this roster right, we need to make some adjustments on that front IMO
As I said earlier, I’m not excited or upset over the hire and have no predictions. He’s a complete unknown. We will see how he does. Gotta hope for the best.
It’s painful watching our front office bumble their way through even the most basic business and hiring practices. Gotta hope we tripped over a good hire.
Like anyone believed you were leaving as threatened for the what number of times now ... , rather than continue to b**** about LeBron and Redick. No need for you to leave though .... just hopefully stop being "Debbie" in every post?

.... funny graphic!! Or .... for realz in a sailboat last twenty years in the Straights of Gibraltar? https://abcnews.go.com/Internationa...ttacks-sinks-50-foot-yacht/story?id=110226518
I saw that. I peg the chances of that happening at less than 20% but I hope it does. Chances are higher at the first of the season but LeBron will just slide back into his pounding of the ball for 20 seconds.
LBJ is basically coaching the team now. I don't think JJ would have the gusto not to listen. Honestly, it's not insane to think it could work.
don't care who the coach is--if i stop seeing the lebron pound iso, i'm happy. i might be happy if it's replaced by a lesser player pounding and iso-ing if only because it's not the same thing i've seen fail over and over again.
