lakers start the season as 150 to 1 odds to win championship. While Hou is (by vegas standards) closer to NBA championship than this lakers squad - the real season begins tues and the truth will be revealed on the court.

    lin v harden
    Ariza v kobe
    D12 v hill/Davis
Randle and boozer are the X factor

    I predict a lakers win by 3.

    102 - 99

    What are your predictions?

This team might take fifteen to twenty games to gel, but I won't count them out against a team I despise. If the Lakers hold them under 100, they'll win.

The offense of this squad is slowly coming together. It's looking wayyyy better. Our defense needs some more work, we need to adjust it where we compensate for our lack of length. We are short, but we're strong and hustlers, we need to utilize that.

i think it's asking too much for something like last season's opener against the clippers, but here's to hoping.

Defense and tempo will be key. Har_en will get his. If they can keep Ariza in check and control Harvard somewhat they'll win. 95-90

I think we'll win this game because we'll want it more. Kobe finally getting the opportunity to play against Dwight since he left and Lin going up against his old team.

My thoughts: (I wish I could be more optimistic)

    - Judging by our last few pre-season games I think we are going to be called for a ton of fouls espcially with Harden driving to the lane and acting like he's been shot.

    - I really would have liked our chances if we can Nick Young and if we had at least 2 healthy PGs available with Price's injury status still up in the air.

    - I also think Trevor Ariza is going to have a really good game against us unfortunately.

    - I don't think coming to play and bringing enough energy will be an issue at all. In fact I think our guys might be a little to eager/nervous.

Keep Beverly away from Kobe. He'll probably try to injure him.

This is our best chance to win for the 1st four games ...

We only will have between 9 (!) and 12 players available though

mr T beat me to it.

I wonder who kobe guards. does he take harden in an effort to prove a point? or do they try to hide him on ariza? the latter has actually backfired in the past. ariza morphs into reggie miller against the lakers.

I don't think there is a reason, in 1st game, to hide Kobe.

    Kobe should set the tone.

Later on, to preserve his old legs, we may switch to a more favorable match-up handling.

    Lakers win 96-91.

I think they'll ride the energy of opening night to a win. Lin and Kobe are anticipating playing the Rockets, and they'll carry the team to a win.

This is a great game to start the new season. The rockets are the one team I dislike more than the C Bags, coached by the evil mchale, led by the prima donna howard. Looking forward to a new identity being formed by this Laker squad , tough, physical play, no more stretch 4, power 4 only, pounding people on both ends of the court. No more rushing shots from 3 with a 1 on 5 break, as your team mates hang their head in disgust at mid court, Bryant is back, more motivated than ever, and gets to face the idiot he would not kiss the a** of, Lin and Boozer playing for a new start to their careers, and Byron Scott after watching the horrific, disaster, of last year unfold as a TWC commentator now able to put his stamp back on the Purple and Gold, demanding accountability from each and every player that puts on the jersey. No excuses, play hard, play D, or sit down, do it again he'll replace you on the roster. I'm looking forward to seeing howard getting hammered in the paint constantly putting him on the line 20+ time for the Staples crowd to laughingly enjoy. No prediction from me, but I do know it will be better than what I saw last year and will be great entertainment with many sub plots for discussion.

I predict a loss at this time. They have more guns than we do right now: Kobe's just getting back and still has some rust, no Swaggy P, Price just went down. Later in the year I hope we will beat them a couple times. I expect us to fight hard though.
