His best moves influenced the best players in the NBA's moves for generations to come.

But for sure the man deserves it and it's just a blessing to be a fan of a franchise that has showcased so many stars/HOFers/legends!

...with more to come :Magic Brows:

...Baylor was Dr. J before there was a Dr. J. Hang time, rebounder and prime-time scorer. Hell of a card player too.

Get rid of Oscar De La Hoya's statue. While you are at it, please take down that stupid Taylor Swift banner. Oh, and Balmer needs to go build that new stadium elsewhere too. Hurry up. Staples exists because of the Lakers. Period. I will give the Kings their credit, they have at least added a couple banners and some amazing hockey in the last few years, so whatever they want to put out, I'm cool with.

I guess they had to wait for the Clipper stank to dissipate. Wow, if you think about it, it's a cross between offended, what the hell took so long, and oh boy thanks since I'm practically dead. I'm sure he appreciates it, but he must have felt very underappreciated for DECADES. And never said a word.

Class act. He also handled the terrible Sterling situation with poise for so long with his hands tied behind his back. Good guy.

I remember reading in one season he was a reservist in the army, for six months, served during the week and play on weekends without practicing with the team and still averaged like 39 pts, 19 rebs and 5 assist iirc, was not MVP probably lacking games, the year Wilt averaged 50 but Russell won MVP...

Well deserved, love how classy the Lakers are. Disappointed in Kobe though.
Also, much respect to Bill Russell. Only Boston C Bags guy i wish would wear purple and gold.

What did Kobe do or not do? Have not seen this ceremony yet or read what Kobe wrote to Elgin in advance yet.

    He wasn't there ;)
I know he's a busy man and all but it's not like the ceremony was planned yesterday.

...agree with West. Takes a GREAT person to work for Sterling.

Hubie Brown on Wednesday's broadcast said Baylor was Dr. J before even there was a Dr. J.

Yeah the old line was that if Julius Erving was a doctor .... Elgin Baylor was a brain surgeon.

That area in front of Staples is getting pretty crowded. Next thing you know, you gotta put Kobe on the roof.

during the ceremony they played a video that Kobe prepared for him. Elgin seemed to enjoy it.
