I have no idea who might be available in that range. I barely know the probable top 3-5. Someone needs to do some homework for us to get the conversation started.
The Stepien only has the top two tiers of picks listed for 2020 so far These players probably won't be available to us unless they have disappointing seasons or get injured https://www.thestepien.com/2020-draft-rankings/
Probably watching the team winning...lol I only bumped the other thread because I noticed we had our pick this year... There is some good prospects. I'll post some stuff up tomorrow.
I'm content not to care about the draft this year. Super happy we have some nice prospects in the G League also. It feels like we're already prepared to plug holes, and I have total faith in the scouting department that they can continue what they have been doing.
I respect that; but you should care, and I'll tell you why: because post LBJ there is nothing much out there in Free Agency. This draft is another opportunity to add a stud and develop to build around Davis post LBJ.
Let’s hope Ryan West wasn’t the true architect of our incredible run of scouting successes. From the titles in the FO would not at all seem to be the case. Just hated losing him and to a degree he was involved in scouting as reported.
When I first took a quick glance at this thread title I almost had PTSD again thinking our team was trash again and this was our "Super Bowl" event, thread.
that's a tall order where we're drafting. but what we CAN do is start getting some useful assets for the next time a star demands a trade--which is how most of them move, anyway. that can be done drafting late 1st, particularly if we continue our run of success there. let's hope.
Cole Anthony, Greg's kid is one of the favorites to go top five at this point. Yes, I know we won't have a shot at these players but it's good to still learn about them.
I think THT will be a good one. He will take a little bit of time... However, to address your point, this draft is key; we did give up a lot of draft compensation for AD (not complaining), so, yes, adding another solid, player who is attractive to other teams or can develop into a good player for is our best bet moving forward. My fear is: I don't want to end up with AD & just a bunch of guys post-LeNron; if anything, let's draft and develop well, and put ourselves in the best possible position moving forward...
I think AD will attract forced trades, so we need to be wise in FA so that we’re always stocked with movable pieces. but yeah, obviously hitting on a pick again would be great.
For example, Beal will get sick of Washington and probably want out - although, he's a good player, I'm not a fan. Or 1 of Lilliard or McCollum. However, with our very limited assets at the moment, we land another Kuz in terms of quality. And we can Free Agents who can contribute but easily be moved of a trade arises... As prospects go, I am liking Obi Toppin (might have the spelling off...)...he might be gone by the time we draft...
Markus Howard of Marquette after scoring 40 against Davidson and 51 against USC... has only scored 2 points so far against #5 Maryland. He is an undersized 4 year point guard who has shot 44% career from three... and started out 49% this season.
Exactly what we're looking at - upper class men, who can shoot or defend (maybe both). And follow Mike. He is an encyclopedia with these prospects.
