    This has become a tradition at my office: stay too long, work performance slips, stay at work to keep getting the health plan even though you're no longer of much use to the company. It's a tough situation from all sides and of course when the company does what it needs to (let you go because you're costing a hefty sum compared to your production), the lawsuits start.
