I was super down on him a couple years ago, he had refused to take a bench role, he remained inefficient, just wasn’t a fan. But as a bench player he proved himself in Portland, and he’s shot pretty well, I’m happy about this signing. I hope he, Westbrook, and some other guys finally get that ring this season.
Finally. After all these years, Melo finally fits perfectly with us. Well, he still plays no D, but offensively and - maybe most importantly - mentally!, he's the guy we need. He knows he's a bench player, he will leave it all on the court in order to contribute to the championship. Still a good scorer, deadly shooter with tremendous size for his position, plays backup to Bron, can easily give us 12PPG off the bench efficiently... Yeah man, he adds a lot of depth. Very happy he's finally a Laker!
Yeah, Miami had to pull their qualifying offer for him, probably to make room for all their other signings. He is now an unrestricted free agent.
Never felt like he could lead a team to a championship. Buuuut if he can come in, drop a couple threes and then sit without giving up too many points in return, I'm okay with it. Our defense has taken a HUGE hit this offseason, and I wouldn't be surprised if we were bottom 10 in the league, winning games 140-136.
Meh: he's a terrible defender, old, and his ISO post-up game is trash. Every few games when he scores, the NBA social media just loves going "Melo is back", "don't sleep on Melo" but this ignores how bad he is the rest of the time
as long as its a W, does it matter how? we were bottom of league on offense last season, need some balance
