Beasley would be great with us. He really didn't show what he's about. We didn't have any room for waiting. We had to win every single game since he joined and he had to be dropped from rotation because other things were working. It's a pity. He's a guy who can give 20+ minutes in any team of the league averaging around 3 triples a game.
honestly, beasley has graded out as a better player than prince for most of their careers. beasley was bad with us in a small sample. i like prince (wanted him last year), but minny let him walk and picked up troy brown, too. he wasn't great for them last year. i think he's a good fit for us, though.
I was very vocal against getting Cam at the trade deadline last season when it looked like we’d be trying to rely on him for productivity. That was before getting Rui who I thought was better all around than Cam and more dependable. I’m fine with taking a flyer on Cam on a stacked team with multiple options at his position. Hope he balls out and demands minutes with his play this season.
oh wow, if he's a knucklehead, I think our main championship bros will have a sit down with him, and if he can't shape up and fly right, he'll be gone.
Okay, but Beasley gave us nothing last season. Absolutely nothing. He had plenty of games and burn to prove that he could help us and he didn’t. Could it have been that the bright lights of L.A. were just too much for him? At the very least Prince has a reputation of playing at least League average defense.
could be that beasley is a guy who needs time with the teammates/system to really work. or perhaps he's forgotten how to play. i think it's the former. it's part of why midseason trades rarely work. even dlo was saying in the playoffs that he felt out of sorts because they'd had so little time together (and you could see that he and AD were still working on how to play together, for sure). anyway, we'll see how it goes. i just don't want anyone pining for shooters when we cut one and let them walk to milwaukee for peanuts. the last time we cut a guy and let them walk to milwaukee for peanuts, we looked incredibly stupid.
Just saw some YT videos and he’s legitimately tall and have a long wingspan. Hopefully Handy can turn him into something
Phenomenal personality, eh? We shall see about that. I want him to focus and put all his pride on the defensive end, we might have something on our hands then. Colour me doubtful at present, but I'm rooting for him to be the next successfull reclamation project.
He’s a naturally gifted scorer. That’s the easy part. He needs to be elite defensively to get in the rotation because his competition Max certainly will be.
In terms of physical gifts and raw talent, he is at least as good as Rui. He is 6-8, at least 220+ now. Has quickness, is a monster off the dribble; has soft touch, can hit almost 90% of his FTs… basically: does he have passion for the game? His problems are mental - primarily (the lack of) focus & discipline. He’s shown some flashes of good, solid basketball in Portland. We have coaches that specialize in developing young players, so there is hope. He could be a steal. But if he’s lazy and unfocused, he’ll be out of the league.
Don’t watch other teams. This all sounds really good because I guess whatever limited highlights I’ve seen since the signing didn’t super excite. Maybe because of kind of impression I’ve gotten he’s another not the highest IQ kind of player … haven’t looked much. Anyone have any favorite WOW type clips? And does he have the requisite tools at his size to be a good or very good defender if our staff gets through to him?
