Why?? I’m rooting for the kid to become a good player someday, but he’s not there yet. I wish people would just have realistic expectations.
Bronny isn’t a scorer at this point, he seems to much prefer assists, he’s definitely got some of his dad’s hoop IQ. He even passes up what looks to be potential highlights, like he had an open lane to possibly dunk on someone off the baseline, but he drove and dumped it off to a big instead, possibly too unselfish even. I’m not sure what type of player he needs to be to have a path to the actual league, but I hope he gets to play in the G-League as much as possible, heard he will only play home games down there, which is odd
Olivari had several of his high arching 3s and 28 points and Lewis 2 or 3 of them too plus some of his long stepping gangly drives for over 20. Koloko took some 3s with no makes …. he’s no Huff yet anyway. JHS hit a couple shots and then tweaked something in the 1st half and didn’t play the 2nd. Wire to wire beat down for first win first game.
Good for Bronny to get playing time in the G league He needs as many minutes as they can give him The only way to see if he has it or not If he can figure it out then it's the next big step to adjust to NBA speed and talent
Lakers two-way guard Quincy Olivari, who led South Bay with 28 points and assisted on Bronny's first basket, credited the rookie's performance, despite the relatively pedestrian statistical line. "I was just happy to see him get out there and show the world that he can play," Olivari said. "I think I'm a big advocate on pushing that he's a great basketball player, and that the criticism he gets is unfair." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/42298811/lakers-bronny-james-makes-g-league-debut-excited-play
BTW ..... Bronny's handle isn't great, yet, but it's not bad either and there was one sequence when he was on the ragged edge of control but blazed up the center of the court in traffic with the ball to make a play (forget what the outcome was). He was really fast with it and the more of those he attempts with no doubt in my mind the handles continuing to improve .... the better at playing with his not great but quite good speed .... he's going to get. Also remember seeing some other opponent guard in his height range get rocked and bounce when James hit him with his mass. Has the beginnings of Pops's bully backing guys his height range down with the ball. Maybe it will never happen (any point guard play in his future), but he is somewhat a combo guard, and he's being given some attempts at the top of the key to try to make plays for others and himself.
I agree he should bulk up even more. Pure strength can help be effective even if he short. Kyle Lowry is a guy I'd try to modely game around if I was Bronny
I almost never agree with Arenas, but yes, he nailed exactly what it feels like watching Bronny that I was struggling to explain
yeah, that's not good. bad optics and can't imagine it'll sit well with his teammates either why not let him have the typical rookie experience?
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCIJR9cpUeF/?igsh=a2t1czZ6czlxNW9k I think he should stay, but it Bron wants to show him the ropes on the road and that gives the Kang a little extra juice on a cold Wednesday January night in Indiana... worth it
Yeah this is where they lost me. Scary thing is that Windhorst has been a Lebron guy, he usually "speaks for him", which makes this even weirder. This to me shows that whoever made that decision (us or Bron), don't believe in his future in the league. The kid clearly needs as much reps as he can, but it looks like we are prioritizing him living the NBA experience with his dad. Maybe everyone is accepting he's not good enough so they are riding it for the marketing of it and the life experience by Bron and Bronny.
He cannot shoot, like at all. That has to be his number one thing to fix, he’s not going to make it to the actual league going 2-10, 3-12, and having 0-fers from 3 every game. Maybe if he were bigger, like a Vando, where defense matters a lot, but at his height, you have to be able to shoot.
