We're halfway through the two night premiere. Thoughts?

We knew Mike was going to be in the episode and I knew a second BB character was going to make an appearance. Certainly wasn't expecting Tuco though.

I'm also curious as to how many more flash forwards to Gene that we'll see. Enjoyed seeing the post BB Saul and the lowly life he lives and fear he lives in.

It's starting off stronger than I thought it would. It's not Breaking Bad. There never will be another Breaking Bad. But so far, so good for Slippin' Jimmy.

Also stumbled across this -- 8 BB references from last night's episode:

Pretty good episode. I thought it was a bit slow at the beginning with so little dialogue, but things like the court room scene made me see the potential for writing for the show.

Enjoyed part two of the premiere probably more than part one.

The desert scene was great, highlight of the episode. The montage of him returning to the court as a public defender was entertaining -- seeing Saul at work.

I could've watched a 10 minute montage of him fighting with Mike. Probably the least expected way I thought these two would meet but it works.

And next week it looks like Mike's finally had enough of Jimmy's mouth.

I can't help but wander how long the transformation from Jimmy to Saul will take, especially with Nacho's offer waiting in front of him on the matchbook.

I agree. I was expecting more comedy, but by the end of the second episode I realized that this show is going to have far more depth than I realized. In the end I expect this show to grow into something that just might be one of the best shows on TV.

Enjoyable. Hard to discuss without creating spoilers for those who are just getting into it. Like that they have created a backstory to BB. Hope they don't run out of things to write about. Better than Schitt's Creek on POP.

^ the fact that they plan on jumping around backwards and forwards helps stretch the time line. I'm in no rush, but I do keep wondering how long he's Jimmy and when he becomes Saul.

Really enjoyed the bit he had with Mike in the stairwell.

Show is great and luckily is killing it with audiences, pulling in some massive numbers.

Mike's character is great. Agree with you on that scene.

    Love Saul's 'office' and vehicle.

I've loved every episode so far, but I just cant help but remain skeptical. I just hear all the hype, and I know there's no way it will be able to live up to Breaking Bad. I don't expect it to, and I'm fine with that, but I feel like a lot of people who are excited about it now might get down on the show once the novelty wears off. It will be consistently good television, but based on the premise of the show and the fact that we already know the outcomes of these characters, it won't be able to match the drama of Breaking Bad.

I hope that they prove me wrong and come out with something more captivating than Breaking Bad. But I feel like their best chance to accomplish this would be to keep this show short. 2-3 seasons max to show Jimmy's transformation into Saul, shine some light on what kind of person he was before (we got some hints to this in episode 3), and then jump ahead to see how he changes after the Heisenberg ordeal. That has the potential to be one of the current best shows on TV, but if it goes on for 5+ years that means that they've stretched things out way more than they need to be.

To Vince Gilligan's credit he knew when to end BB, and I think he already has an end for BCS in mind too.

The sex toilet had to be the funniest part of the episode. Man, some of those house calls he went on were brutal...I knew it was too good to be true when the annexation guy offered to pay him $500k now and $500k when they're done.

Glad Mike's role is about to ramp up. It'll delve more into his past and I imagine it's where he and Saul get their start as associates.

Best performance I've ever seen from Jonathan Banks. I don't expect every episode to focus on him, but if he can consistently play close to this big of a role, this show can live up to its potential.

Damn that was an amazing backstory. Fantastic episode, Banks (Mike) knocked it out of the park.

I wonder what sparks him leaving his current gig. It's a lot easier to see the journey for Saul than it is for Mike.

Best episode by far! Almost as great as some of the bb episodes at least on par. Don't want to say anymore to avoid spoilers for readers of this thread

Banks became Emmy worthy based on this scene alone
