We don't have enough Marvel nerds on this site! I'm trying to geek out with people about this. Man that's an awesome trailer. I've watched it 2-3 times already. Some really cool stuff is coming in comic book movies over the next few years.

I'm thinking it goes like: the Avengers go in and smash up Von Strucker's spot. They come back and party. Ultron comes out. Ultron smashes up the place, but the Avengers beat him. Turns out Ultron can't be beat that way because he's AI and he's everywhere. He goes to the Twins and recruits them. They're anti-Avengers already because they volunteered for Von Strucker's experiments. Now they're super-powered and ready to fight. Cap, Thor, and Tony turn up and get their butts kicked, but make it out alright. Twins and Ultron go on a destructive rampage. Twins get cold feet and bail. Ultron makes his army and makes his "son" Vision. Vision boots up and sees the world differently than his "father". Epic final showdown with everyone fighting the bots. Someone dies. Finally able to stop Ultron. Now fall out between Cap and Tony as Tony tries to end the Avengers. Civil War. BOOOOOOOOM.

Pardon my ignorance, as I love the genre, but I'm not a comic book nerd. Upon reading wiki, I learn Ultron was made by Ant-Man, not Tony Stark. Why change the story to have Stark create Ultron when Ant-Man is in the plans to join the Avengers in the future?

such an awesome trailer. Can't wait till it comes out. The runtime on the movie is 240 minutes. So almost a 2 and a half hour movie. Glad its that long with all the characters involved. I'm already Looking forward to the end credit scenes

It just didn't fit as well in the Cinematic Universe. RDJ has been so integral to their universe and Ant-Man wasn't ready to go yet (and is also a VERY difficult character to sell) so they just called an audible and had Stark make him.

Stark and Pym in the comics are pretty frequently messing around on stuff together with science and whatnot. It's not such a hard sell to have Stark do it instead of Pym. Who knows? Maybe Pym makes the original blue-prints for the Ultron idea anyway and Stark just expands upon his concepts.

This movie is going to just completely kill man. High intensity, high drama, high action... This is what the Avengers is supposed to be.

I am so going to the cinema to watch this movie. Absolutely great trailer. I love comic books, but there were not may available where I grew up when I did (mailly Spiderman), which is why I'm not familiar with the Avengers. But based on the last few movies around them, including Iron Man and Captain America (Thor was kind of weak IMO) and now this trailer, I'm feeling like I have to go get some of these original comic books too. Those must be great to, right?

The Avengers comics are fantastic man. This story is a strong one. Ultron is one of the best/most creative villains in the comic book world.

I highly recommend giving it a shot!

You are correct Punk-101. I think Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is a large part of the franchise now (basketball equivalent of feeding the hot hand star), so they ret-conned (changed it) so Stark could be the angst-ridden conflicted character. Arguably they lost a chance (if they did this) to introduce Pym and ready him for his stand alone film (is this being made still?) which shows me that the importance is to make this a significant second sequel. Ultron is basically an intellectual terminator (or a non mutant discriminating sentinel) with room for a bit of Frankenstein's monster thrown in. It completely makes sense for Pym - biological science to create the "thinking Ultron" as in the stories. Stark and his Jarvis do not cut making an almost living computer system. I hope personally it is a collaboration.

Hank Pym is certainly a difficult character. He introduced spousal abuse to comics and basically spent decades in character development purgatory being the bitter whipping boy of a crime he seemingly could not redeem himself from. Just like Iron Man was an alcoholic, and the movies made him a hedonist party man rather than an addict, I think Marvel omits the Ant Man hitting the Wasp (the character not the acronym) story line.

Oh and @therealdeal as a person with Marvel comics as a big part of my life (though less now) feel free to keep up these topics, it is good to get your geek on now that these movies are such a big part of modern films. :nerd::rock::)

Thanks for the recommendation, I will visit a bookstore and see if I can find any. Would you recommend me to start with the first episode (BTW - is that the right term when referring to a comic book?), or can I just get any one and start with it?

These movies have made me really interested in exploring Marvel comics as well, does anyone know of a site where you can read them?

It'd be "first arc" and that's not 100% necessary but if you want to start there it makes some sense. It just really depends on what you're into. Old comics are very different than what you get today. If you're not into the older style you can get the "Ultimates" comics which are a modern take on the old stories.

Otherwise I'd just pick a story and jump right in. Infinity wars is good, secret wars is good, maybe go more recent with House of M, or Civil War... lots to choose from.
