No..It's a fact. Add last season to it and we are 16-19 with Reaves playing 30mins or more. It's just not this magical answer that it's being made out to be. Reaves is my guy but thIs minutes thing is overblown IMO.
How is his effectiveness being jacked with, when we lose more than we win if he's playing more minutes? I think you are putting too much emphasis on his playing time. He's averaging the most minutes of his career this season. Last season was a feel good story after the Westbrook trade, but Rui and D'Angelo haven't played at the same level this season either.
I’m more talking about his role post dead legs, the whole bench thing again and who he has been teamed with on a revolving door basis than the minutes thing when I say his effectiveness has been jacked with this year. And there are times when we’ve “had” to play him more than 30 (which does seem a sweet spot )…. and he has delivered.
Austin is just fine IMO LT..I'm a big fan of his game. That doesn't mean that he's built for 30plus minutes during the regular season. That's not some huge issue to me though. It's not his fault that his running mate last season, has been subpar in this one. However I don't think "More Reaves"! Solves any issues either.
Lol..I'm in 4 diferent discussions on 3 seperate platforms. Basically I'm just more frustrated with the Kang of late. At first blush, I'd say that the young guys, just need to step it up. Austin has answered the bell, Rui and D'Angelo haven't always responded, to the call thus far. That being said, Lebron James is supposed to take up the slack, that's why he's a Superstar, AD is playing well. Lebron really hasn't played that great since Vegas. He did explode against OKC, so it's not like it's no longer in him or something. Ok.. I'm drifting off onto a LeBron tangent here now, but I'm not worried about Austin, Reaves at all. He should be frustrated, he's a baller.
We all love Reaves but he is a trainwreck on D. Guys just abuse him every which way whether its off the dribble or him falling asleep on shooters. Great passing game and low turnovers at least.
3 point shooting has gone to s***. Has only hit on 3 of his last 27. Some good dimes, I'll give him that but this is two stinkers in a row (8 pts vs Clipps) on top of the awful 3 ball.
Terrible game. But on an off shooting night to have the balls to confidently put up that long 3 to retake the lead with a couple of minutes left? I just knew that was going in. Dude has the clutch factor for sure.
i think this is part of the experience, too. he has been and can be better on defense, but his athletic limitations will always be there. with AD and either cam or vando in the starting lineup with him and lebron, we can survive, but adding a POA defender to that crew would be good. alternatively, using him off the bench is a way to keep him from playing too many minutes against the opposition's top guys. in crunch time, focus goes up and sometimes even lebron tries, so reaves can become your weakest defender and you can live.
Reaves has been a wretched defender. Targeted over and over and giving up open shots. Guys are shooting 3.3% better than average with him guarding them. He was a much better defender his previous two years.
