plain and simple - this guy can ball and as others have said...he looks better than some of the guys that were projected to start (ellington mainly)

nope. most of those were when houston had cap space all the time. i *think* you can use MLE to sign udfas and maybe even 2nd rounders to longer deals, but teams tend not to do that (because it eats up their primary avenue to improvement if they're capped out).

i think it's specifically vet mins and whatever the deals we call those for 2nds that can't be longer than 2 years. it's been a while since i've seen the exact rules.

remember when we thought they preserved part of the mini-mle from nunn to do this?

I love this kid. Not Eagle love but maybe he can get there in time. He plays under control, makes some good passes after breaking down the defense with drives to the basket and making a few 3’s here and there. He’s been one of the bright spots in the preseason for me.

I completely agree Cookie. His game is pretty complete. The separator, is he has a basketball mind. He moves with purpose. He is going to take some veteran minutes unless Vogel wusses out.

him, howard, bazemore. end of list.

if vogel's serious about playing team defense--which he has been in the past--i'm not sure which wing other than baze beats reaves out for minutes. it's pretty wild.

I totally get why the FO gave the kid a roster spot. He looks good!

Can't expect him to fill the Caruso shoes but he'll easily be the new fan favorites. Might get some playing time too if we start racking up injuries.

If? (injuries) Where you been? ;) HK is definitely getting minutes behind Russ and Rondo since he's a better PG than anyone else on the squad not counting LeBron, plus knows what he's doing on defense fairly well already. Good for him. He should do OK against reserves long as he doesn't force things, which he seems smart enough to know. But him being conservative is pretty darn good with the level of skill with his handles and passing and getting where he wants to go on the floor. Remember the Oklahoma coaches were, among other attributes of his as a player .... very impressed at how competitive he was/is.

I am hopping on. The guy is good. As I said before, he needs to improve his body so the NBA calls steroid police on him. But he's one of the early positives when it comes to playing defense, and his shot seems good. Also, he's a better playmaker than I expected.

    Some stats:

    MPG: 18
    PPG: 7.5 (shooting 43%, 41% for 3 or 7/17)
    FT: 100% (5/5)
    RPG: 2
    STL: 1.2
    AST/TO: 1.8/0.8

I mean, that's not bad at all. I don't see any reason why he could not be a role-player in the vein of Caruso. I think he's a better natural scorer actually.

That’s a good interview with Reaves. I like how he made a point to say that before the draft, he came out to LA to work out for the Lakers, but not the slips.

Needs to get used to the speed and length of NBA defenders: missed a few layups and lost the ball when he had a step but then didn't realize that NBA defenders are much better at rotating/recovering then in college.

Other then that impressed: he's got a nice handle, nice shooting form, and he's a real pest on D
