    Since recent news and backlash...

Seems absurd that someone expressing that a transwoman is in fact born a man would lose their job over that.

Based on the biology of ones genitalia and chromosomes, there’s no argument as to what sex one is born.

I’m curious to learn what else is going on in the brain and body during pregnancy or early development that makes one feel in the wrong body. Some cases are socially or sexual abuse driven confused children, but I think that’s the minority.

I’m willing to believe, and wait for science to figure it out, that most trans people have something genuinely different in their brain making them feel in the wrong body. And I don’t mean as a mental disorder. I think science will discover the mechanism we all have that determines our gender independent of our chromosomes/genitalia.

Do you think Kaitlyn Jenner is socially driven? He decides after 60 years he wants to be a woman, coincidentally after he spends years doing a reality show surrounded by enough estrogen that you can grow boobs just watching the show. Probably thought he was missing out on the "fun" all the girls were having.

That family is so f*****g weird and whore-ish to fame that it’s very possible. Still, I give him the benefit of the doubt that he’s been miserable as a male his entire life and just recently he’s felt safe enough to transition.

it would be unfair to judge all other cases based on that one family

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if abuse is a much higher factor than we'd like to believe. Even if not remembered.

Either way, it's not a struggle I envy. My gay brother once asked me if I thought he wanted to be that way? Alternate lifestyle is much more of a challenge than being "straight". Nobody just signs up for that in the last 100 years without knowing life was going to be much more challenging. My brother was prepared to lose his entire family when he came out. I can only imagine that the experience of someone who identifies as trans is similar.

My stance is you can be a pig, horse, cow, transgender, etc., all you want. Don't bother me and I don't bother you. But the moment we have legislation CHANGED to help these transgenders do things like use female bathrooms, compete in women sports, etc., is when it becomes a matter of invading the rights of other individuals. I have nothing against gay people... Nearly 5% of the American population are gay, lesbian, or bi-sexual. Transgender is a completely separate issue. You can be gay, lesbian, or bi-sexual and not be a transgender and vice-versa. I was sick to my stomach when my local Target began letting trans individuals use female bathrooms. The crazy part is these bathrooms were right next to the girl's clothes section and now you're telling me a grown man can use a bathroom where little girls occupy?

Are you saying someone would cut off their d***, simply to peep women in a ladies' restroom?

I'm not saying there wouldn't be a few disturbed people who might try to fake being a woman to get a look (assuming they were skinny or feminine looking enough to wear a disguise)... but they could already do that from the dawn of public restrooms.

Women have used men's rooms in busy clubs... it's not the end of the world.

If someone actually tries to fake being a trans person in a restroom then they should go to prison... I agree they shouldn't compete in any sport that relies on physical strength... but people are overstating the risk. A big store with cameras is the last place someone's going to try to molest a kid

For some of these bathrooms, they don't have to go so far as to have surgery. They just have to identify as a member of the opposite sex. I highly doubt someone would cut off their junk just to get a look inside the womens locker room at their gym. But would someone put on some women's clothes and say they identify as a woman? Sure.

I can see the difficulties from a security guard's standpoint. You have a person who clearly was born as a man, but you can't stop them from looking because you are afraid of bringing a PR sh!tstorm.

But the percentage of the population, especially in a smaller community where everyone knows each other, who would go through the trouble of looking at women even by going in drag... must be minute.

They still have stalls... Do we have problems with gay women staring at women in bathrooms? Do we have problems with gay men staring at men in bathrooms? If some gay dude were loitering in a bathroom staring at men, he would be noticed and reported.

I'm not saying there's no risk... and it definitely makes the world more complicated... but the hysteria caused by this is overblown.

As I said... if someone actually exploits this situation to prey on women, men or especially kids they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

Possibly, but imagine the spotlight that she/he was in, in the climate of acceptance during her/his lifetime. As much as we are seeing anti-trans discrimination nowadays, I highly doubt it was as accepted and supported as it is today. To be a world class Olympian, born into a prestigious most likely conservative family, you really think Jenner would have done that back then? She/he would have been torn apart. How many well known trans people do we know around her/his age? How many might have felt trapped to not ever tell the world how they really felt during those times, but were too afraid to lose family or their fame, be discriminated or ever killed for being trans?

Those who have no issue with the bathroom topic don’t have anyone close to them molested, sexually assaulted, or don’t have children. If it’s your job to protect those who can’t protect themselves, it’s a very hotly debated topic. If the topic has affected you, it’s not so easy to dismiss.

It seems like more people have been molested in churches or the Boy Scouts than in random bathrooms by transpeople. Are you going to ban churches, boys clubs, sports teams? 0.6% of Americans identify as trans... yet they are more of a problem than the average person? How can such a tiny demographic be responsible for claims that up to 80% of women have been sexually harassed?

Most problems occur when adults are put in charge of children and aren't screened properly.

A huge percentage of women are molested... a substantial proportion of men also have been molested or harassed

    https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo...t-of-women-have-experienced-sexual-harassment

Again, I'd throw the book at anyone who actually did anything... but can't you all see that this group is being targeted because it is different?

And yes I am an Arabian Trans Pelicans fan who had their girl stolen by Anthony Davis

    FINALLY A CONFESSION!!!

    :Fishwink:

BTW, it’s not THAT kind of wink bro

it probably wouldn’t be too inaccurate to say that anytime or anywhere a trans identifying person goes into a restroom, they don’t really fit in with either crowd

I can understand those who it upsets. I get trying to treat everyone fairly. It’s not an issue I fully understand. Or care to actually.

I get the awkwardness and potential for abuse. But that risk of abuse is always there. .6% of the population can't be responsible for such a high number of crimes.

Most trans people already stand out like a sore thumb... it's doubtful they commit any significant number of the violations simply because people already notice them
