everyone knew about his injury history

given how cursed this franchise has been with injuries this decade did anyone actually expect him to make it through a full season healthy? LOL

the staff need to do a better job of designing an O around AD, as it is now it looks horrendous and stats show it as well (when Lebron sits)....I'm not fuss about his type of O, if he's a jump shooter so be it, design something so he can get his looks with more player mov't to free up the paint in case he drives or have the supporting guys get back screens for back door layups. AD is a good passer but everybody just stands around ball watching.

Who's shocked by this "news"? Our injury management and medical staff SUCKED for years. I also love these "BS timetables" they always come up with.

Harden doesn't get hurt because all he does is not play defense and shoot from half court. How's he gonna get hurt?

AD has a torn labrum. We will see how many times we have to say it so people know.

fair point. he also doesn't really jump in the painted area, where lots of injuries occur.

    the nba is stupid.

yeah, seems like the kind of thing that will need surgery, just a matter of when. sadly, the most likely case is that he's going to play on it until he basically can't use it, then get surgery. i'm sure his plan is to have in the offseason, but i doubt he makes it that far.

if i'm right, title hopes are shot. he may know that and just think it's worth developing chemistry with lebron and seeing what's possible instead of sitting out for much of the year.

or maybe he can make it all year?!

It looks and sounds like a torn labrum. I thought so after he did it. Yikes.

Wasn't this the injury that Dwight had when he came to LA the first time?

I thought he had a serious back injury and was coming off surgery for it. IIRC Lamar Odom suffered a torn labrum at some point and played through it? And maybe Kobe as well? Then Kobe had surgery for it.

Edit, Lamar Odom tore his labrum and got it surgically repaired in 2007. Kobe tore his and played through it. Later he got rotator cuff surgery.

people play with torn labrums (labra?) but they typically require surgery, iirc. they can also get worse (or slightly better) depending upon use. feel like i remember lamar struggling with this. it affected his play (could partly explain AD's dip in FG% and shift away from the paint). the real issue is that each time he goes out there, there's a chance it gets worse. so yeah, if that's what it is--and boy does it sound right--it's s***ty news that kinda dooms the season from a competitive standpoint.

need to handle it carefully, though, because we got AD for the long haul, not this year. can lebron handle the fact that he's wasting a second year?

Torn Labrums need 1 year to fully heal. He isnt getting that fixed any time soon.
