Bro stop watching porn. Forget wading, too many wet dreams for me to snorkel through in your recent posts. Since y’all love getting wet, I know a guy you can grab a beer with. Dive in.

So the cap plan is wrong now. You know the duo we all come to love and is the only thing that can really deliver a chip for this team...yeah that was realized via cap space. Never forget.

First thing to establish: without a legit 3rd max guy, AD needs his kicker for a max extension. Our potential 34m turns to 30 to divide amongst players from that point in without the room (AvBrad) and vet min exceptions impacting it.

8 s&ts lead to hard capped teams trying to dump salary. Timeline has it where transactions aren’t official and finalized till July 6th. We “traded” for AD on June 15th and yet things remained in motion with our cap till July 6th. Once upon a time, wasn’t Booz suppose to be a Cav, DJ suppose to be a Mav and the Spurs traded Bertans for a Morris half. s*** happens in the NBA...keep it moving. The timeline doesn’t stop and remained fix for anyone.

Bottomline, our contingency is that we have Rondo and Caruso to help Bron in playmaking. We are one Dwight sore perinium away from AD forced to play a position he doesn’t want to. We are an AD, Rondo, McGee, AvBrad, Kcp player option away from falling in LOVE with free agency all over again.

Oh and btw, Kcp has unlikely incentives to drive his cap hit to 9.2m this year. Ky and KD took unlikely incentives to fit in DJ’s cap hit.

But go ahead and act like there weren’t a myriad of contingency options that didn’t involve locking up 2 roster spots with Dudz and Troy BEFORE we locked up Kawhi.

Like I said, leave the pooch alone...we screwed our cap away.

And you can't put a team on the floor here in the safety of make believe for the sake of discussion and validating your armchair GM genius.

First off I ain’t laying out, in, off, on, up, down, besides, behind any of y’all. I do know a dude from Temecula that would be high on that and I’m sure y’all can find a hotel to lay low in.

Second it’s just my opinion...there’s no right or wrong on how the summer played out. But I find it wild that some of y’all are defending what we ended up with as some master stroke. The roster has some pretty obvious flaws.

But how did we even get to such a derailment? A few pages back, I brought the McMenamin article here and mentioned the biggest regret of the AD trade is not getting his kicker involved when we whiffed on Kawhi. How any fan finds that befuddling is bizarre. Isn’t the point, locking up stars you trade the house for?

After losing out on Kawhi, we weren’t limited to just the scenario we’re in. If you got more hands on deck in the FO, those guys can work the phones. You can court many free agents at the same time. And if it was Kawhi or bust as the only max guy we were interested in, then we were part of a handful of teams that had meaningful cap space and with capped out teams agreeing to s&ts, we should have been one of those teams on speed dial even during our Kawhi pursuit. But it was just Rob and Kurt up in that motherf***er and it’s obvious that we didn’t have enough hands on deck.

Fact remains that we had options and didn’t have to scramble away our remaining asset, which was our cap space.

LT I’ve been giving you names. Been! Any salary dump with picks attached is something I would have taken over Green/Kcp’s aggregated 23m. I would take back draft capital in dumped salary as long as the dude could still hoop. There’s a reason that dude got that type of bag in the first place. Whether that’s Whiteside, Iggy, Harkless, Meyers Leonard, Josh Rich or otherwise, 1st round picks were involved and we lost a few on the AD trade. Get some assets back with the 30m in cap ALONG with having the ability to max extend AD.

LT, just one example of many is Iggy. 17m and a weakly protected 1st to us instead of to Memphis gives us 17m in a cap hit vs Green/Kcp’s 23m. That means we have roughly 13m in cap space left. That means guys like TRoss (who was a trade target last year), BLo, Valanciunus are all options now if we’re looking past 2yr deals. Ariza, Taj and JJRedick are options if we want to stick to 2yr deals.

You still have the room exception for AvBrad or even McGee. And let’s say you want both them, McGee cuts into our 13m in cap and we still have 9m remaining for a guy like Seth Curry. Point is options were a plenty with 30m in cap.

Vet mins include WesMatthews, Wcs, Jordan Bell, Wilson Chandler, TyChandler, Thabo, Jeff Green, Vince, Melo, JoeJohnson, Rondo, Dwight, Noah, Faried, etc.

And I’m sorry, if Boog, Cook or Caruso ain’t willing to take the vet min when there’s nearly no market for them, then on to the next. Dudz and Daniels probably have no shot on my wet dream roster. And certainly not giving Green/Kcp 23m of our 34m in potential cap. f*** nah...

    Anyways back to AD...

^^^Timing? Harkless, Iggy were both trades done BEFORE the Leonard pursuit....are you suggesting Rob should've pulled one of those trades and renegade on them had Leonard decided to sign here?

All trades are made official on July 6th.

Was the AD trade finalized on June 15th?

His kicker, #4 counting/not counting as salary, more moving parts (future 2nd, Bonga, Moe, JJ) were all in play till it became official.

SA could have backed out the Bertans deal once Morris backed out. Mavs backed out from the Butler s&t as well. Let’s not act like Rob is some boy scout either. Bron will tell ya when Booz left him high and dry in Cleveland.

And this obviously brings up yet another point as to our FO hierarchy. Just how many hands with true authority are able to handle calls to other execs in the league? If all hands were on deck for Kawhi, who’s handling the contingency? Kurt?

Contingencies should have been made concurrently. Other teams should know that Kawhi is our end game, but we’re more than game to help you get out of your hardcapped situation. At least that is what other teams should have been told.

I know about the official date to to finalize a trade, doesn't mean it takes away from verbal agreements, so if Rob had agreed to either harkless or iggy type trade he effectively takes himself out of the running from Leonard before it even started....so like I asked @vash, if Leonard had agreed to sign here and Rob had to renegade on a verbal agreement on a trade, how do you think thats going to play out in the media and with other front office execs?

You saw how the rest of the league viewed us last year, right? Morey has tampered and no one makes a stink about it. Rob has a 500k fine of tampering to his name with multiple hit pieces last year along with Magic. Bron and Klutch has been targeted of wrongful doing while Dray (before Klutch) and Harden get a pass.

Rob’s reneged before with Booz when he went to Utah. So who really cares about public perception? They hate us and we know it. No amount of good faith going to change that now.

We were supposedly on the hunt for DLo. Dubs got involved and when they did, it was obvious it would have to be a s&t. Tell Myers to do right by Iggy and have him sent our way if Kawhi doesn’t come to fruition. s***, they could even increase the protections on the pick so it wouldn’t be sent so weakly protected to Memphis.

Miami hesitantly had to waive Ryan Anderson and are just 2.5m away from the hard cap. You know they want Cp3, but are limited due to that limited breathing room. Going in as 3rd team in that scenario was also a possibility for you guys that are so steadfast in the free agency timeline.

Anyways, you can’t refute there were other options. And those options only multiply if we had more hands on deck running our FO.

while I agree Rob didn't do as much as he could've I still support the decision NOT to do anything that would've otherwise hindered our abilities to go after Leonard, they sacrificed to much at that pt (magic should get a big share of the blame too for this star chasing debacle) to not have chased Leonard....its easy to play that would've/could've/should've game AFTER finding out how big a snake Leonard really was/is. I certainly wasn't a fan of maxing out Butler, Irving, Middleton or any other player this past off-season.

talk amongst yourselves. i'll give you a topic:

AD was never going to sign an extension no matter what, ever. even if the lakers had signed an actual president of basketball operations in the wake of firing the fake one.

    discuss.
