    No, not this:

    But this:

I've been a satisfied Windows Phone user for the last several years, but it's a dying-dead mobile OS. I considered going back to iPhone, but decided to follow the crowd and try Android for the first time. I really like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but I'm going with the HTC 10.

I'm looking for some advice to ease my transition to a new ecosystem. Any great apps I shouldn't miss? Any tips or tricks you've learned?

I HIGHLY recommend you reconsider and go with the Edge. The battery life is AMAZING. I'm at 80% and it's almost 5 pm where I'm at. I have never come close to running out in a day. It's fast, the screen is vibrant, and IMO, it's the perfect size. I also recommend a Unicorn Beetle case. It's about $15 on Amazon and is a strong case, similar to the Otterbox, but at a fraction of the cost. Look around. I think you can get a $150 gift card at Sams or Bestbuy for purchasing an Edge right now.

Buy an SD Card so you can add movies and music.

Pretty much any apps you've had before will be on the Android Play Store, but here's my list of must-have's:
    - FaceBook
    - ESPN
    - Photo Editor Pro, Photo Lab Pro and Z Camera for your photo editting
    - Samsung Milk Music is pre-installed and amazing
    - Ringdroid (free and it's used to make your own ringtones)
    - Flixter and IMDB for your movie times and reviews
    - Music Player and/or VLC for movie watching and music

Thanks. I'm sure I'd love the Edge. What is swaying me is reading about Touchwiz bloatware (HTC has a leaner OS), much better audio for headphones with the HTC, and a metal case vs. the glass of the Edge. Also I've read about Edge input stutters, while the HTC 10 is described as having as good an input experience as the iPhone.

As for the phone i'm with John. Htc10 is AWESOME... but the S7 Edge is even better :).

I loved my windows phones, but Microsoft F'd up by allowing the hardware and OS to become so glitcy. My last windows phone was great, I had no complaints, but apparently my experience was rare, so when the camera started to die after a year or two, I switched to an Android Edge S5 ( I think that's what it was). I hated it. The android OS was setup crappy in comparison to Windows Phone, and even though there were a bunch of apps, it didn't matter to me because I hated the OS so much. I thought everything you do on the android seemed inconvenient in comparison.

I now switched back to iPhone 6s Plus, and love it.

I personally can't stand Android, but I understand why people prefer it to iPhone/iOS, and my step father uses it has the Note Edge and loves it. The Galaxy Edge, as mentioned, is also a good choice. There does seem to be a battery issue ("exploding") with the latest Note but I'm sure it'll be fixed in time and affects only a certain percentage anyway.

The wife appealed to me to get an iPhone instead of Android. So, it's back to the future for me. Going to preorder an iPhone 7 Plus tomorrow.

Well, the home button on the iPhone 7 is supposedly not really a "button" anymore and doesn't click. It's not flush of course, but it's force touch now with a vibration response.

So far, people who tried it, call it "garbage". I never had any trouble with HB, just want it gone so Apple can FINALLY shrink the bezels. iPhone 8 (or whatever they'll call next years phone) better come with all the bells and whistles. If not, im saying "good bye" to Apple (their crazy prices in Europe will meke it quite easy)...

I don't think it's anything to worry about really. Apple is trying to move away from the home button and the force touch and removing of the button piece is the start.

Yeah.. went through a couple of blogs... Mostly the usual "whaaaaa whaaaa" from either Android fanboys or Apple FirstWorlders...

I will have a go at it when they will be available, see how that feels.

Highly considering preordering the 7 for its camera. If you use T-Mobile they are having some pretty great trade in promos.

I think Apple set them up for the criticism they're getting with the removal of the headphone jack, especially when they started their justification of the move during the conference with "we did this because we have courage".

But overall, there seems to be more hate from Android users about the phone and how all the "brainwashed" Apple supporters are defending the new iPhone, then there are actual Apple supporters defending it. I don't really get why people get so personal about their choice of phone brand.

I'll probably be getting a new phone this holiday season. Probably a new laptop too. Since I'll probably be switching back to a Windows laptop after years of using a MacBook, I was thinking about also switching from iPhone to Android. Especially after the whole headphone thing. I don't think having a dongle would be a major inconvenience and I wouldn't be getting the ridiculous AirPods, but I could see it leading to some annoying situations. Like I'd probably just attach the Lightning converter to the end of my 2 pairs of headphones and the AUX cable in my car. But then if I were in a friends car and they asked me to DJ and plug in the AUX, I'd be out of luck.

But after thinking about it, I'm just too used to the iOS interface and I've never had any issues with my iPhones up to this point.

Gonna do some more research when the time comes, but as of now I'll probably get a 7 Plus.
