me neither. but my early pushback on all the negativity was that we'd basically ONLY played the league's best teams. i suggested that we could get to 8-12 or 9-11 by the 20-game mark and was laughed at. and we're doing this part without lebron, too. so, no, i don't think beating probably the two worst teams in the nba (who were both missing their best players) at home means we're contenders or something. but i also don't think we're giving wembanyama to the pelicans.

as for chicago, there are definitely some workable trades there:

    plenty more, too.

BRING THE GOAT EAGLE BACK TO HIS HOME NEST.
It would be a complete 180 from Mystery Star Chasing but would bring tons of Christmas Joy to all of LakerNation.

Well, those of us who thought we'd get off to a bad start weren't exactly well received either. Lol

8-9 wins would be great though so hopefully you were correct and we can snatch 3 of the next five games.

I'd definitely be interested in that Chicago deal.

i don't remember that. i fully expected a bad start when i saw the schedule, and i don't remember many folks thinking we were going to win a lot early?

i think 3 out of 5 is doable and makes the season salvageable from that point forward. 20-game mark, ftw.

yeah, if we would take on salary, i think even bevs/nunn/jones/one more min is enough to get derozan by himself. just bevs/nunn gets vucevic. obviously the bulls would try to get picks, but i'd hold out as long as we're not spiraling.

Some interesting trade candidates and buzz per Scotto with HoopsHype

    Los Angeles Lakers: Russell Westbrook

Atlanta Hawks: John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanovic

If the knee checks out, Bogdan for Bev, Nunn, & a 2nd.

    Brooklyn Nets: Joe Harris

Unfortunately i don't see a path to Curry or Harris unless they blow it up and big fish get involved.

Charlotte Hornets: Gordon Hayward and Kelly Oubre

    Detroit Pistons: Bojan Bogdanovic

    Indiana Pacers: Myles Turner
    [IMG]

    Los Angeles Clippers: Robert Covington

I think they sorely miss Pat Bev's leadership. Hell, they can have a 2nd round pick too.

New York Knicks: Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley, Evan Fournier

    Fournier, Rose, Reddish. No picks

Orlando Magic: Terrence Ross and Gary Harris
Still think there's something worth exploring with Ross and Bamba

San Antonio Spurs: Josh Richardson and Jakob Poeltl

Worth checking out the link. There's something for every team

I wonder if we could get Robert Covington. He isn’t the best 1on1 defender in the league but he is an excellent help defender and can shoot a bit.

Would the clippers take Pat Bev for a swap?

Pincus explores what he thinks is "the best realistic trade for the Lakers to vault back into contention"

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-would-make-the-los-angeles-lakers-contenders

The meat and potatoes of this 3 team'er...

The Lakers trade Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn and two future first-round picks (2027 and 2029).
The Brooklyn Nets trade Kyrie Irving to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Detroit Pistons trade Bojan Bogdanović, Alec Burks and Nerlens Noel to the Los Angeles Lakers.

I want no part of Kyrie. In NBA 2k, that's a good return.

A few interesting tidbits in the piece...

Is there, or has there been some talk of Chicago wanting to offload DeRozan's '23-'24 salary? And why would they off Vucevic who is expiring?

Don’t want Kyrie any more. But I like the Bogdanovic Burks and Noel idea.

there hasn't been, but if they're out of the playoff picture in december, they should be thinking about it. as for vucevic--him being expiring is why they might want to either extract value or simply be ok with moving on. expiring contracts on good players are actually tricky for the team holding them. if you really wanted them and they really wanted to play there, you'd probably have extended (especially if they're currently highly paid). it's possible vucevic and turner and whomever all get extended, but if they don't, i expect them to be traded.

i'm still pissed that both utah and SA tried to bleed us when they could have just made a win/win deal. and i know everyone thinks ainge is a super genius who fully intended to compete, but he did not. they will not be happy if they miss out on a top pick this year because the core of clarkson/markannen/sexton/olynyk overachieved. because that team is going nowhere long-term. anyway, if i were lakers management, i'd have a long memory for this kind of crap. "perplexed" indeed.

Yeah. Several teams are going to wish they had just made reasonable deals.

So this completely depends upon Chicago thinking that our package is "good" as in Westbrook. I think Russ is proving he can help some teams still and plays what many consider to be "exciting ball" but I see it being a small-market team. Not so much Chi-town. Teams with no chance to land a KD, or AD etc and will take the next best or a couple tiers down. That's why I see our deals involving him being with Charlotte, San Antonio or Indy.

dont really care for Irving either regardless of the skillset, dudes just been a headache for every team hes been on....as for Cha, Id want them to pay US a pick if we take on rozier or hayward, both are having down year and Hayward has been extremely injury prone

westbrook's expiring salary wherever he goes. this requires chicago wanting to punt the season and get off 27 million in salary.

Chicago signed LaVine for like 5/6 years.
If they use such assets like DeMar and Vuc is to upgrade the team now, not blow it up. That's a straight robbery. They have a good team, is just not clicking, so I imagine if they move someone is to try something different but at the same level

Whenever we think of a trade, we need to think what's in it for the other team. There's no indication that the Bulls are blowing it up. If there is, than let's entertain such offers

Right, and Chicago is a big market team. Throw away 2 seasons to save 27mil? Made the playoffs last year, sure they got bounced in the first round by the Bucs but still a "good" team. Tanking ain't an option they owe their '23 FRP, they are out of the Vic sweepstakes.
