Ross has interesting size. Microwave scorer. Would be interested in a better defender though

Did we ever get a reason why no one signed Ennis?

I wish Minny was a dumpster fire this year, because Taurean Prince could have been a nice buyout target. He has good size.

Kings are a disaster and have some nice options but they all have 2 years left, making buyouts very unlikely. See: Mo Harkless.

If SA is a lost cause at the deadline would they let Thadd Young go chase a ring? I feel as though Pop would hold on to him out of spite if he got a whiff that we were interested.

Really wish we could've gotten him, especially after he killed us. But I don't see Pop helping us and DD wasn't going to take the pay cut... nor should he have. He's nearly in the MVP convo this year.

    1. told y'all he was definitely pissed at us.
    2. i'm not sure there was a path to him, tbh. accepting a player in a s&t just wasn't a good option for us.

then again, if we were going to let AC walk for 3.5 million, maybe we should have just hardcapped ourselves so that it didn't feel as self-imposed.

Does anyone feel this is kind of the same kind of stuff that Kawhi did to Russ when he called him to team up? LeBron is wooing DeRozan, he thinks it’s a done deal. As soon as Westbrook becomes available, LeBron dumps him like a hot potato. It’s somewhat similar to Kawhi calling Paul George up behind Westbrooks back and asking if he wanted to team up.

I think it's different because Bron threw out a large net and kicked the tires on all the potentially available all stars. Dame, Beal, Russ, DD. Now to what extent the others are aware of this or each throught they were Bron's only invitation to the prom...I dunno. I think for Bron, DD was always a fall ball (albeit with a less likely path). He was probably atop of tier 2, but was always looked at in that regard.

Also—didn’t Russ reach out to kawhi and get snaked? That’s how I remember it told.

He did but did Bron reach out to DD and then snake him? I admit it’s not quite the same situation but for it to go so far as DD thinks it’s a done deal…..it’s not a great thing.

why no? this team isnt good defensively, DD wouldnt have helped that...his O seems alot better probably due to chi putting him in good spots unlike this "system" or whatever system this staff is running

Most people have been really down on Westbrook shooting and turnovers, if you switch it out for DD we would score more points. Hence, we would win more games. I didn’t say whether we would look better defensively. Your comment was we wouldn’t look much different. Winning automatically makes us look different.

DD is dreaming if he thinks him coming here was a done deal. With what money? We couldn’t sign him except for peanuts. And Pop would NEVER do a trade with us. Not ever happening. Wish it could have but that’s total pipe. We had the pieces and the motivation of the Wiz to trade Russ and his gigantic contract which had them hamstrung.

It’s good to have star players upset again that WE didn’t pick them, and not the other way around.

clearly a monumental shift in perception has occurred

i think he believed lebron could force the FO to do a sign and trade for him, and he may have been right to believe that. he got thrown over for russ. though i will definitely agree that russ was probably the most easily attainable target. this should have meant something to management, imo.

in both the hield and russ deals, i remember saying i thought we should have a draft pick coming back our way. in the russ deal, we took back 10 million in the initial year and 20 million the following (trez expires). that's a lot of cash. and they got cost-controlled, fairly compensated rotation players. 3 of them!

and you could tell sac was itching to move hield with their glut at guard and his salary outpacing his value. they were mad we pulled out because they finally had a taker.

anyway, water under the bridge. again, our big stars wanted the move.

I agree with you, but it takes two teams to make a trade work and Pop wasn’t ever going to let it happen even if he did like Kuz. DD just wasn’t a realistic target though he wanted to be. I don’t think he got thrown over for Russ as much as he wasn’t really in the mix as he hoped to be. I would have preferred DD for sure.

i think it's just that they had sort of formally sat down and discussed it is all. i agree it was HIGHLY unlikely.
